My new "Stealth" handle

I have a Weber "Black" for some time and have enjoyed the great shaves it produces, no matter what blade is loaded. While I liked the thick heavy handle, I felt like I wanted something a bit longer. Also the two toned look, was eye catching at first, but after a while, just didn't have the long term Pizazz.
Recently I scored a great travel Tech, that definately needed a longer stem, so I moved the heavy grip from the Weber to the Gillette and was left with a empty head besides the one I have on my shoulders.
Since I have my own metal shop, I headed out to see if I could remedy the situation.
First I grabbed a bar of Titanium, with the idea that I would turn it down , then heat anodize it ( a rainbow affect). But then I remembered I had some coarse weave carbon fiber tubing left over from a project. Yup thats the ticket. I turned out some aluminum "bling" for the top and bottom, weighted the inside of the tubing with some #6 shot and BINGO, Perfect.
The original Weber handle was a smidge over 3 inches, I made the "Stealth" right at 4.
The coarse weave has the perfect texture for gripping and the length gives a great angle for shaving.
I couldn't be more pleased with it.

Not really sure as to the exact weight. It is not as heavy as the original Weber grip. But being longer, it has a much better feel in the hand.

What a great looking handle. Are you interested in satisfying any of our handle/stem lust? Would be very cool to be able to get one from you.

Hey Al - would you mind telling me where you got that particular tubing? It has one of the most pronounced weaves I've seen. Looks perfect for this kind of application!

Thx

Rob

Accunlmtd - the handle looks amazing! Any sport bike or auto enthusiast would be in love :). Sounds like you've already evaluated the balanced shave and you are pleased. Nice work sir!

As a cyclist, I do love some unpainted carbon weave. Wonderful handle. I wonder if instead of filling it with buckshot, it would be better balanced by machining the end out of steel and producing a shaft just smaller than the ID of the carbon and using it as a sleeve. Now my lust for engineering has gotten the best of me, but it is a nice piece. If you ever start production I would be interested.

If I remember correctly, I got this material from "dragonplate.com". This was the .415 OD braided tubing. Most people don't used the coarse weave, but for the things I was doing, it is perfect...now including razor handles.
