What's new

My New Projects

The time has come to try to restore a few more brushes, because I can't have enough of them. I've thus far restored two brushes:

The red/white one is my favorite thus far but I didn't fill in the handle so it's really light (yes, it floats). The taller one is really, really, creamy soft, but it's too floppy for my taste. I was hampered by a metal insert that I couldn't drill past so I was stuck. Plus I used a Grade A Silvertip so it all conspired against me.

So I'm going to try again. In an effort to show off, here is the family I get to pick from:

Thus for the next two, I am going to use these:

Both have been cleared out pretty well so I can set the knot anywhere I want:

I have a 20mm Finest Badger I'm going to set in the first one and an 18mm Finest Badger for the small one. I'm going to shoot for a 45mm - 50mm loft to try to get a bit more backbone than the ones I did before. Also, I'm going to fill in the first one with epoxy and see how that works out for me. If it all works out, I'm going to see about finishing the rest of the family, eventually.
