What's new

My new daily brush - a HJM!

I've bought a new shaving brush today at a local drugstore (Müller, southern Germany) and it will be my daily brush. It's a HJM handmade shaving brush from Germany, as much as I know it's made by Mühle and the letters stand for Hans-Jürgen Müller, the owner of Mühle. Now I have totally 3 shaving brushes, a Plisson HMW #12 for special occasions and for weekends, a Vulfix travel brush in super and that HJM. And I feel certain that I won't buy more shaving brushes :yesnod:

It's a silvertip badger brush and it cost only 39€, with the current rate of exchange, this is about 53$, what a bargain  !

I've used it once and I'm very content with its performance. The hair feels great on the face and it lathers like a machine! The size is perfect for my hands, neither too short nor too long. Unfortunately I don't know the exactly knot and handle size, but I have a comparison with my Vulfix travel brush, which has a 20mm bristle knot, a 45mm bristle loft and it stands 82mm tall overall.

Nice looking brush.

I knew HJM was made by Mühle but I didn't know HJM, as in Hans-Jürgen Müller.

Long may you enjoy its use.

looks great :) I have been thinking about a trying a smaller lofted silvertip, as my Merkur has very little backbone for soaps. How is the backbone on this brush?

...How is the backbone on this brush?

I've used a soap for the first time today, and with this brush. It was the Mühle Aloe Vera soap, great performance and lathering (actually I never got such a nice lather) but the scent was very discreet.

The backbone of this soap isn't great. It isn't a very stiff and densely packed brush. But it's soft and it works great for face lathering. It's less floppy than a Vulfix, but for the one or other this shaving brush could be too floppy.

It's indeed a great value for 39€! If someone is interested in the same HJM brush, just PM me. There's one left. I will sell it at purchase + shipping cost. And I think this brush will more gratify cream latherer than soap latherer.

Great looking brush! I love the handle. Been seeing these pop up a lot around lately... might have to try one. :001_smile

Me too! It's very interesting how the taste can change. At the beginning of wetshaving I highly preferred the chubby/stubby handle, but now I find this type of handle much more classy. But the ne plus ultra remains IMHO the handle of the latest B&B limited shaving brush! By far the most classy and elegant handle I've ever seen. I would only be too pleased to have such a shaving brush.
