I just re-wrap my old blade in the wrapper for the new one, and toss it in the garbage...ever wary that the garbage now has a land mine in it. Not the best solution.
Now I'm intrigued - what else do gents have in the way of a blade bank? (Nice one, OP!)
I have a feather blade bank. It came with a 100 pack of feathers I bought it actually looks really cool. I straight shave now and would be happy to give it away but I don't think the post office would be happy with me sending a box containing a bunched of used razor blades.
I don't plan on throwing it away. It should be a pretty long time before it fills. It looks pretty cool on the counter. Plus getting the bottle spurred me to look into the company, and learning a little of the history of Sloan's Liniment. I'm weird I like old things like this, but I only collect things I can use. I don't like things to just be sitting on a shelf collecting dust. So this is a little bit of collecting/recycling, lol
That's a cool bottle. It seems such a shame to fill it with blades. (Plus it would make me nervous having to manipulate the blade so much just to get it in there.) I'd probably find a rubber stopper for it and re-purpose it to hold witch hazel, Aqua Velva or something like that.
I made a blade bank from an empty Noxema jar. Just a couple of minutes with an Exacto knife and I was done. I'm thinking I might dull the corners and edges of a blade and glue it over the slot so future discards will go through the slot in the blade. This container isn't that large but it will take years before it gets full.
I use an old pepsi can that's been washed out. The blade just fits through and when its full, I'll tape it shut and throw it out. I like the noxema jar idea better though, that is really cool.
I use a 2oz. glass jar that once held Medalia D'Oro instant espresso ... its is small enough to fit on the shelf in the medicine cabinet. I'm too lazy to cut a slot in the lid, I just leave the cap off until its full.
be careful when you bend them. i get a teeny tiny bit nervous when i slide my de blades into sharps container , hoping it isn't going to slip and spring out into my fingers
My blade bank is a metal steel cut oats can with a slit I stabbed into the top with a knife, jb welded the lid on and it is pretty good looking and will hold a ton of used blades. I need to take pics of my shave gear, need some for my albums lol.
