My first venture into Straight razor shaving

I guess its what you would call a shavette which uses normal DE razor blades. Its very cheap but I am hoping it will give me a good idea what using a straight razor is like before I invest £40 - £200 in a proper straight set up with strop etc...

If anyone has used this razor or something similar I would love to hear your experiences and what I should expect?

I never used a shavete but I have read they are quite different than a regular straight. It will teach you some about holding it and angles.

i have used both types. as 4 Parker shavette type i have 1. as 4 the traditional straight razor i have i have 150+. that is how much different i think they are and which i think is the best. i have no plans 4 acquiring any more shavette type straights. as always YMMV. tom

I shave mostly with straights, and have had a couple Shavetts along the way, and IMO the shavetts are a bit less forgiving. They are cheep and give you a good idea of what you can expect from a good straight. Just be prepared for slightly more cuts and nicks as the exposed part of the blade is very narrow and looses the flexibility you find in a full hollow straight.
