My first straight shave today....

Got ready for my usual afternoon shave today and decided to rest the Merkur HD and give my new straight a shot. Got my hot towel ready while I mixed up a good rich lather from my shave soap. I was a little nervous at first because I have heard that straight's can be a little unforgiving. I took my time and tried to pay close attention to the angle of the blade. All in all it was a great first experience, shave was really close and best of all only one small 1/8th inch cut on my chin. Not enough to cry about. After the shave was finished I cleaned up everything and applied a good coat of aftershave and was a happy camper. I finally see what all of the hype is about. It was easier every stroke and I gained more and more confidence with my razor with each pass.

I'm glad to hear you had such a great first experience with your straight! A lot of people approach it quite tentatively, but after that first ATG on your neck, nothing seems scary anymore

congrats mate.

Now it only gets easier, as you get more confident whipping that blade about your face. Just be careful of shave 3 where you get a bit overconfident and the razor bites... Not that im talking from experience or anything..
