My first restore, Klenzo & 24mm TGN Boar

Here’s my first restore job I started with a Klenzo handle & a TGN 24mm boar knot. My weapons were scissor to cut the hair back the biggest drill bit I had witch I drilled through the center I then removed all the hair with my fingers and pliers. Then I used the ½ grinder bit to drill out as much of the center as I could. Then I used a knife to carve out the rest of the old knot and ounce that was out I used the dremel sanding drum to size the hole to fit, it took a lot to get the 24mm that deep. I cut a thick card board disk to set my depth and mixed up the epoxy and poured it in to the handle then I applied epoxy to the knot and set it in place.
I set this at 51mm loft I was shooting for 55 but missed.

Man that looks real nice! I love that handle. The only boar I've ever used was the Burma Shave brush I got years ago and it was a total piece of junk. I may have to try a boar in my next handle. Oh nevermind, I just sent that handle to you!

Thanks Guys and Schwert for getting me hooked and ramblin-wreck adding to my addiction LOL.

For the knot I think it was the only one they sold on TGN but it's thick and seems to be put together good, like 7 bucks worth of hair.

I've got one more that's a best knot to do before I order more knots and then I'm doing ramblin-wreck's handle he sent me looks to be a good fit for a black badger if I can get the size for it.

It's the unbranded Boar it doesn't have the cup I can see were the Omega knots would be sweet to drop in and there not that much higher.

Great job! 51mm sounds like a good loft... I have my boars set at 55mm but I have been tempted to set one a bit lower just to try it out.

The "unbranded" TGN boar knots are Vulfix. BTW, Tony is just selling existing stock of these knots, get 'em while you can! They are very nice! :thumbup1:

Nice job! You really opened that handle up!

That makes me start thinking that I need to try my hand at restoring a brush.

The accomplishment is were it's at I can see now how you get hook on it, I'm hooked.

It's amazing what 4mm will make on the knot I lathered it up just ounce after I got it done and it will kick up the lather quick. This Vulfix then is one good knot it's thick and it doesn't smell not a bit at lest not this one only thing it needs is breaking in.
