My First Close SR Shave

I'm a week into it and notice quite a bit of difference since my first shave. Sounds like you're hooked now.

I ran the Filarmonica over the ILR finishing stone this afternoon, so I'm looking forward for tonight's shave. I'll see if that small rough spot on the blade has been smoothed out.

I've been working on my first complete restoration. I've done the work with minimal hand tools. I should be coating these scales tomorrow.

Here is a pic of the raw wood and the scales.

I had a 4 pass shave:

Face: WTG, XTG (Nose to ear), XTG (ear to nose), WTG.
Neck: WTG, WTG, ATG, ATG.
Chin: WTG, WTG, XTG, XTG

Only one tiny nick on my neck on the second WTG pass.

It's BBS. It's very similar to what I can achieve with a DE razor.

Getting there myself. Using a straight takes longer and is more work, but it makes shaving enjoyable. Not a chore anymore.

I've had a few days of no nicks or weepers. I've even had two shaves where there has been no sting from the alum. it's no time to disrespect the blade though, it can always bite.

18 days without a nick. To add to experience I've had little, if any, sting from the alum over the last week or so.
