My $5 Schick Adjustable M4 Injector

I scored this for $5 today with the intent of cleaning it up and flipping it since it is in absolutely lovely shape and I have NOT been fond of my injector shaves on other models vs my GEM razors and even my de. Anyway, I have a policy of always giving a razor I plan on selling a shave to make sure all is well (And no, this isn't a morbid curiosity policy so much as it is I will always give something untested a go on my face first before I mail it off somewhere to avoid issues down the line with an unhappy buyer. You should all do this.). Anyway, I loaded in a Chinese Schick and wasn't honestly looking forward to it b/c I don't much care for my G-type, cranked it wide open and went to town on 3 days growth. This thing honestly at the bare minimum matched any other razor I have in shave quality and it got it done quicker b/c the head is so small. It even got bits of swirly stubble the OCMM fails on a lot of the time. This razor kind of has a unique feel to it when you are shaving, kind of like it is driving itself along and very planted on the face. Pretty amazing how different various injectors feel. Maybe I'll unload the G I hate instead bc I have hands like frying pans and it is a nightmare to maintain angle with. As far as the dial adjustable goes, I think it belongs in that upper tier of best of the best razors. $inj1.jpg$inj2.jpg$inj3.jpg

The dial in mine is missing the numbers, but I'm still a big fan. Almost effortless shaves every time. Recently I haven't felt like using a straight, so it's been a shaving stick with this and it's going very well!

This was the one injector where the light weight didn't offend me. I think it is bc the long handle doesn't tempt you to get jabby with it like you do with the short handled ones.

Man, this must be one of those thrift store gems. Haven't seen such prices on eBay - I would buy one otherwise. Not necessary an adjustable.
Enjoy it! :001_smile

Very nice find! The Schick adjustable is an outstanding razor. Since you have such large hands a J or L might also work well for you.
Personally, my own hands sometimes mean I have some awkwardness handling some razors, which may explain my lateness to Gillette's DEs, if the Slim Adjustable was the first one that really fell right into a comfortable grip. My fingers are long enough, I sometimes need "Extra Large" work gloves.

However, I did shave with the short size of Injector between the Gem Junior and the Gillette Slim, and I haven't noticed any similar awkwardness with the currently (relatively new to me) favored G8 model. I asked someone here at B&B recently about the all-metal injector, to see if it was any heavier than the rest. The general lightness of these Injectors isn't a favorable aspect, in my view.

I'm also certain that I had a J model Schick of my own, and either didn't like it, or found the Slim Adjustable's ergonomics were a better fit for me. Of the razors I owned before the two Slims, only a Good Will that seemed particularly rapacious, and an Aristocrat that seemed particularly good-looking, followed me all the way from 54 through 2012. I got rid of all corded shavers, lost the old Injectors, and the original SE is so long gone I can't be certain what it was. I just suspect it to have been a Junior.

I've been wanting an N2 backup for my Type N1 Schick for a while yet never considered an adjustable. But I got tired of waiting for a suitable one to show up on eBay, so when this M1(?) showed up as a "Buy Now," I caved and did. Paid considerably more than you, I might add. Then, wouldn't you know, a Type O (!) showed up, got outbid on that (by a friggin' 99 cents), then finally an N2, and I won that auction. So the adjustable joins what's now a stable of injectors, and it's certainly the best looking one of the bunch. If it shaves half as well as my N1, I'll be a happy guy.

My G type is the first injector I've tried and liked, too. I didn't like the shave on the hydro-magic or the pal adjustable I tried. Someday I'll get around to picking up an M type (a less pretty one, since I don't like shaving with near mint vintage pieces), and an E at some point, as well, of course.

I had at least two Schick Injector razors when I was in college. Neither one had any release lever. One was black-handled, and short, like a Hydromagic, the other was longer and white. I'm pretty sure it was a J model. Neither Injector followed me all the way from back then until now. I have a G8 that I do like, now, that was very reasonably priced, however I paid way too much for a Hydromagic, to get more idea what it was like when I had the plain black one. about 52 years ago.

I also have a later model Injector with the same mid-length, "flat" looking handle that looks like the adjustable M handle. It's a very garish, bright yellow color. I've just gotten around to cleaning them.

P. S. About 18 hours or so after writing the comment above about three of my five Injector razors, I shaved with the Hydromagic, and got the best Injector shave yet, the best SE shave yet, but once again, with some problems with my whiskers on the end of my chin, which seems to be "my usual" with an SE razor.

Never let the dwell on your mind. You have no idea of how much cash the other bidder had on the table.
