MWF; what Mantic said!

I was getting frustrated with MWF soap because it was so hard for me to get a decent lather, until I watched Mantic59's tutorial on the soap. He nails it! I followed his tips and just got an outstanding thick/slick lather! Thanks so much Mantic!

I use the same method I use for all my other soaps.

Wring out my brush so its relatively dry, load the puck (rotary style) with a good amount of pressure (lets say 20% spay level) for 45 seconds.

Lather face, dip in water, lather face, dip in water. Achieve creamy wonderfulness.

For me MWF is very easy to lather, I never soaked it, sometimes leave it for a couple of weeks unused and when I bring my boar brush to the bowl and start loading it I always get a thick creamy lather no matter what I do.
I do have relatively soft water, only use boar brushes and use a firm hand but never load it for more than 30 seconds. My puck is not cracked as that only seems to happen when people soak their soap as that makes it swell and shrink, my puck has never even been rinsed except for when it was new and that was to make it stick to the bottom of its bowl.

Easy lathering MWF here (soft water). Not too wet a badger brush, but definitely wet, swirling and... mounds of lather.

The Fat is merciful with me...

I just soak my brush (Semogue Boar), let it drip till it stops, swirl for a minute or so, transfer to bowl or face per preference = mounds of lather. I'm in a hard water area.

I had hit or miss results (distilled water or not, Omega boar brush or not, Mantic's method or not) until I chopped my puck of MWF into tiny chunks, packed them together into a plastic container, added a touch of distilled water and lathered the mosaic of chunks (to "glue" them together), and let them dry. I now get the much-promised, great MWF shaves, using Mantic's method (but perhaps any other method would now work). I did the same thing with Pre de Provence, getting the same, excellent results.

Mine is cracked, and I've never soaked it.

I soak my soap, and MWF never cracked until I ended up neglecting it for a month or so.
When it was new, it didn't fit the bowl... way small. Within a week or two of use, it was a much more snug it (never did get tight against the sides).
After disuse, it shrunk back down and cracked across the middle.

There was a definite improvement in it's performance as it hydrated.

I've watched mantic's MWF video several times. I have a sample of MWF from Garry's sample shop which I pressed into a small glass kitchen condiment cup. soaked the soap in warm water while in the shower, and completely rang my M&F out of water before loading. Loaded upside down aggressively. I get nothing but a thing, watery, bubble filled lather. I have a newly installed water softener so I can't use the hard water excuse. Oh well, I like the clean smell this soap has but it's just too temperamental for me to keep farting around with. Maybe some day I will come back to it.

no doubt it can be done - I'm just not talented enough

Loading mwf takes a longer time than with other soaps--stay on the puck longer and it WILL lather

Add a couple of drops of Coral Trumpers Skin Food (or any glycerin aftershave) to MWF and you get a really nice lather with the added benefit of a nice smell

That's preposterous. I lather MWF with badgers all the time.

Ditto.

I own no boars. I have an Emperor 2-band that I could probably puncture my cheek with if I tried, but even with hard water and not following Mark's directions (simply bowl lathering normally) it works just fine even with my softer Silvertips.
