I received MWF soap as a gift. The person that gave it too me did not realize that I was talking about shaving soap. Can anyone tell me the difference between shaving soap and bath soap. I used it to shave and I thought it lathered up fine and it was a great shave. Just wondering if I should buy some shaving soap.

The bath soap is unscented. That was a big let down for me. The shaving soap smells great and so I ordered the bath soap only to find out it doesn't smell good at all.
The lather from the bath soap doesn't compare to the lather from the shave soap. I wouldn't attempt to shave with the bath soap personally.

Oh god no!! I wouldn't use the bath soap for shaving. I love the bath soap but the foam is produces is not for shaving.

Live the bath soap. Very moisturizing, but as stated above has no scent. unlike the subtle pleasant scent of MWF shave soap
This whole "using bath soap as shaving soap" comes up every once and a while. While you certainly could use the bath soap as a shave soap, it's formulated for a completely different purpose, sort of like commuting to work in a tractor.
If you're getting good results lathering up the bath soap you're going to be blown away by the shave soap. The scent is also much better; everyone describes the shave soap as a "clean" scent but if you look at the ingredients there about 5 or 6 fragrance-enhancing ingredients; I think the bath soap just has one.

Yesterday I tried a shaving soap I bought from another company (I'll leave the name out so it doesn't look like I'm bashing it) and it was terrible. The only thing that was different was the soap. As of today I'm going back to my bar of soap from MWF for shaving until I can get in the MWF shaving puck. Pretty sad a bar of soap is better then shaving soap.
Why not just pick up a puck of MWF shave soap and try it out? Then you can compare it side by side with a bar soap from the same manufacturer. To be honest, there is a huge difference in both shave soaps and bar soaps from manufacturer to manufacturer. Like everything else, there are cheap, terrible soaps and then there are quality soaps made of good ingredients and of a good formulation. MWF is a company that makes quality products. I don't know what shave soap you used to compare, but it's possible that it's a cheap soap made of poor quality ingredients or by a company that does not care about putting time into getting a good formulation and just wants to sell soap at the corner store to anyone who's willing to buy.

garry's sample store has trials of mwf soap....i went that route and will try it shortly.
