RazoRock vs Maggard vs Stirling Shave Soaps????

Looking to expand my soap collection (like I need to right?) and have been looking at Stirling/Maggard/Razorock soaps. I have only used Stirling MITA and found it to be a good solid soap. But what about the others?

Please let me know your thoughts/experiences with the fine vendor soaps.

Thank in advance and enjoy those shaves

I can't comment on Maggard or Razorock soaps but have a lot of experience with Stirling soaps, 18 different scents and counting, and I have nothing but good things to say about them. I find they lather beautifully, they're a great value. I'm not crazy about a couple of them (Stirling Gentleman, Baker Street and Deep Blue Sea) but scents are always subjective. I just ordered Evergreen Forest and Hot Apple Cider last night, two of my favorite samples that I've tried. Again, I highly recommend them without hesitation.

RazorRock has their excellent triple milled soap, cleverly named "What the Puck?". I'm working my way into the Gold Label puck and it delivers great lather and slickness. Nice scent, not overpowering. I have a CorningWare soup mug dedicated to this Gold Label puck and it simply doesn't seem to wear down. Not taking away from the other choices you mentioned, they have their merits. But this RR WTP soap is something every wet shaver should try.

I agree with 100% that he said about Stirling Soaps. Change some of the "scents" around and our thoughts match! Sorry, they are 99% of my soaps. I've not tried the others you mentioned, to date.

I'll have to try that down the road.
By the way, your screen name never ceases to make me laugh.

Sir, and what did you really think?? (GREAT REVIEW, and I am very tempted!! :a23::a23::a23:)

All are good. All can provide marvelous shaves. Some are better than others because not all Stirlings and RRs are equal, even in how they make their bases.

I don't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. I've lost count of the number of Stirlings I have in my collection, and I actually consider their 1-ounce samples fabulous to purchase. They let me keep a wide selection of Stirlings available to use in a small storage footprint, as I put them in 2oz screwtop metal containers.

Some RR scents are fabulous. I think I prefer their soft soaps to their What The Puck line, but you can't argue the WTP soaps aren't great bargain finds.

One word of advice ... RazoRock typically runs some really nice Black Friday sales. I'm just saying.

Hi Poppi, I've a lot of experience with the Razorock (RR) soaps. Both the triple milled hard pucks and their soft Italian products.

The triple milled pucks (What-the-Puck) are excellent easily producing great lather. Vegan ingredients are similar (in some cases identical) to other good soaps costing many times more. The come in a variety of scents, pick the ones you prefer. At a few dollars each they are excellent value.

I've also had great results from the RR soft Italian soaps. Of those I've tried core lathering performance (ease of lathering, slickness and stability) is the same for all with the exception of Mudder Focker that has a different base. If all you care about is core performance just get the RR Classic Italian soft soap for $5.99 (less on sale) and try Mudder Focker to see if you like it. Otherwise try the others if you thing you will prefer the scent. I've RR XXX and like the scent though it shaves the same as the cheaper Classic Italian. Note that the TFS Ciotola Rosa (Red Bowl) has the same base as Classic Italian and is even less expensive. Shaves just as well. I've posted detailed reviews on all of these.

Bottom line the RR soaps are excellent and a great value.

Link below on how I've found it best to lather these soaps:

See posts #1,21,22 & 37 for my RR soft Italian soap reviews in the thread linked below:

In the past those sales have provided WTP for under $3 each and soft Italian soaps, like Classic Italian for just $3.99.

Do you cover your mug after use? I've a RR WTP Black (fougere scent) in an open mug and found that while the scent is excellent, it largely dissipated over time in the open mug.

Have some WTP Barbershop Blue and WTP Green (pine forest scent) in sealed containers where the scent has held up nicely. All provide excellent shaves. Also have a more recently purchased WTP Red (almond scent) that I've yet to try.

I have a lid for the mug but I never use it, so the puck is always open to the air. I haven't noticed a drop-off in scent but it wasn't a super strong scent to begin with.

Usually some of their $9/10 dollar soaps can be had for around $5. I may load up this year. I picked up Caribbean Holiday last year for that pice and I love it.

Try one of the Stirling Mutton Tallow bases. I only have experience with the regular unscented Sheep, but they do offer 4 scented ones with the mutton tallow if I’m not mistaken. The quality of the lather will blow your socks off.
