Musgo Real #1 Orange Amber?

I've heard great things about this cologne, and I've heard that it was not so great. Anyone know if (and where) there are samples of it available? If not, has anyone ever tried it, and what is your experience with it?

I'd like to know a little more before buying blind. Also, has anyone tried the DR Harris "Orange" Traditional? Wonder if that's comparable, that one also has my interest.

Haven't tried either....when you say "orange" what are you after? I think of neroli and my favs are Penhaligon's "Castile" and the C&S "Neroli".

When I say orange, I am referring to two specific colognes with "orange" as part of their name. Musgo Real makes a cologne called "Orange Amber" and D.R. Harris makes a cologne they call "Traditional" but it's nickname is D.R. Harris "Orange."

But then again, I DO like any cologne that smells like oranges. They seem really hard to find. My favorite so far has been Armani Mania, smells INCREDIBLE but the problem is it's so faint on my skin it's practically impossible to detect.

I was asking if anyone has specific experience with the Musgo Real or D.R. Harris "Orange" colognes, but I'm sure happy to hear about anything else with a good predominant orange smell

I found the Musgo Orange-Amber opened nicely, with a combination of barbershop/citrus notes. As it dried, and the citrus notes faded and the amber took over, the scent morphed into something I found to be quite sweet and lacking in sophistication, but still decent. Just unremarkable, I guess. I would think the notes that carried would strike others as sort of generically sweet. It strikes me as a poor cousin of Crown Imperial. I have smelled plenty of other fragrances that cost way more that I like way less, but the Musgo #1 still is not something I would seek out. That's just my take, of course. A number of people have raved about various fragrances to which I wouldn't give a second thought, so I can't say the Musgo is something you or someone else wouldn't like. And it's not very expensive as far as fragrances go. Still, any amount spent on a bottle of something that is just going to take up space in your closet is too much.

Haven't tried the Harris.

Consider Clinique Happy as well - very nice orange.

I got samples of all #1-3 of the Musgo colognes. I really wanted to like them but IIRC #2 was the only one that I liked. And not enough to buy it apparently as I don't own it.

I will add another recommendation to the fray. My good friend and fellow moderator johnniegold sent me a decant of L'Occitane Feu D'Orange. It's a mild orange scent.

Dennis, where did you get the samples of them? I'd like to sample but have only found full bottles for sale. The Musgo Real colognes are not on any of the sites I usually get decants or samples from.

Austin, that sounds pretty nice. I'll have to look on luckyscent and the perfumed court and see if I can pick up a decant. I LOVE orange fragrance

If I recall (this was when they first came out) I asked Charles at QED if he could add some samples with an order I placed and he provided tiny decants. That was a couple years ago though.

I have a bottle of the Musgo No.1 Orange Amber. Personally I don't like it that much. It reminds of me simple orange blossom water. I don't think it a particularly rich or complex fragrance. Normally I like simple unsophisticated colognes like Spieck is my ideal, the Musgo is simple but just sort of blah. YMMV.

On the other hand Musgo Real Glyce soap, shaving cream and after shave are personal faves, simple and delighful scents to each.
