Was my shave slower because my blade was tired or because I was overtired? Might find out next time. Still quicker than many before it and quite comfortable. In honor of Modern May, my stubble will grow back in the future.

A fantastic shave from the Merkur 34C that my father gave me as a gift. The KAI blade, with its slightly wider shape, is a perfect match for this razor and noticeably improves the razor's performance for me. The KAI blade provides a neutral blade exposure rather than the negative exposure of virtually every other DE blade. The neutral exposure made it possible to attain a true BBS without undue effort while still providing a shave that felt quite mild.

The two photos below show the blade exposure of the 34C with a "normal" blade (about -0.006") and then the KAI blade (neutral). Quite a difference!
