Wouldn't you just like to shake the hand of the man who came up with the idea for a differential adjustable?
- "But boss, can't we just turn the... ?"
- "No! I want a differential adjustable!"
- "Well okay then, if you say so"
Complete madness of course, but fortunately in every way that matters Le Supreme lives up to its name. It's way too complicated to explain what I set this to - "1st pass on 2 on the blue side which is 4 on the red, then back to..." - but the shave this morning might have been the best of the lot. Thanks to everyone for the month. It's been a blast!

can you post more photos of the head / adjustment mechanism? what does "differential" mean?

An off day from work and I just wanted to take in a lovely morning with a solid & comfortable shave. I don’t have to give details nor explain what the Parker Variant can deliver to most as there are plenty of posts that abound in this forum and many others let alone the posts within this thread. It simply is a solid and well above average performer. The SB version is really good taking a back seat only to its OC younger stablemate (in my experience) as it works easily yet with excellent cutting ability. One would be hard pressed to find a razor of this performance acumen and still be offered at a very affordable price.

Yaqi Ultima / Dorco Prime

This shave is going to happen tonight just before the soccer Champions League match.

I just could not pass up the opportunity of having actual daylight for once for a photo.

Thanks to everyone participating, amazing razors and impressive photography skills.

I don't have an Ambassador but an Envoy, the Yaqi Ultima feels much milder and in general better for me even at max setting.

I am looking forward to OCtober, NOCvember and DEcember. There I will be able to post some more different razors. But at least the Parker Variant OC is likely to become part of my collection soon.

Pearl Flexi with a Wizamet Super Iridium Blade

My New Pearl Flexi SB, made it it just in time for the last day of Adjustable April. Did a two pass with a 4 setting for the first and 1 for the second. The Razor is buttery smooth and efficient. Almost avoided a second pass. Went with an all Tabac experience including the Shaving Cream, After Shave Lotion and Balm. Love the heft and this is one terrific piece of equipment.

Differential means - two different sides to the razor, generally two different blade gaps but could even be OC/SB.

In the case of a Le Supreme - it has two different blade gaps.

So there's a red marker on one side and a blue on the other - and continuous adjustment marked 1-4. So when it's set to 1 on the red side it's on 3 on the blue. BUT the blade gap on the blue side is larger than the blade gap on the red side.

So the red side can be set lower than the blue and the blue higher than the red, but there's a whole range of adjustment where you can get the same blade gap on each side - but not at the same time obviously!

I believe - and I've only eyeballed this - that the difference between the two sides is about 2 stops. So red 1 and 2 can't be reached on the blue side - and 'red 3' (stop 3 on that side) is the same as 'blue 3' (stop 1 on the blue side).

But just to confuse things the adjustment also overclocks all the way back round to red 3 again (i.e. stop 7) which I believe is the equivalent of the second blue 3 (stop 5). Stops 6 and 7 on the blue side (i.e. second blue 4 and second blue 1) can't be reached on the red side.

I hope this clears things up It's a work of genius. I'll try to take some pictures later.

Of course there's always the chance that it's accidental rather than deliberate - which would be even funnier! The bottom line is that it's a great razor that works fantastically!

Yaqi Ultima for the final day of the adjustables for me. I don't remember the last shave with this one going well. For me this one has slightly more blade feel than the Ambassador but possibly a slightly closer shave. Thanks @JAHE for hosting and sorry for making so late to the party.
