Minora Week Starts on the 15th of July

Starting on the 15th of July for the first time on B&B we will have a Minora week. As some of you know, Minora has been bought by Gillette a long time ago.

Rules:
Use a Minora blade or a Minora razor. Part timers are accepted (i.e. you do not have to shave with a Minora the whole week). Minora razors with other brands of blades are eligible.
If you don't have Minora blades, you have 15 days to acquire some.

Do not forget to share how was the shave, and of course to post pictures.

In anticipation for Minora Week, I dug into the ol shave bunker and found my stash of Minora blades. Loaded one into my Henson mild (blue) and splashed the old dome with hot water. Scrubbed with PAA Cube 2.0 mentholated and re-hydrated. Got the scruffy dome just this side of a lather with that pre shave treatment and started to feel the menthol. Grabbed a squirt of India-made Old Spice tube shaving creme and rubbed it into the pre-treated head whiskers. Nice lather, pleasant smell. Strolled the Henson around the dome once and (of course) missed a bunch of places. Re-lathered with some more of the Old Spice creme and used my weak hand as a "scalp scout". Followed the scout hand with the Henson and cleaned up with authority. Rinsed and followed up with Thayer's cucumber. Once that air dried, hit the dome with a splash of Tabac aftershave. Love that powdery scent. No burn. Dome is okay but not glass smooth all over (just in spots). I'd give it a 6/10. No irritation or burn, but also lots of left over sandpaper in places. As Minora Week edges ever closer, maybe I'll have these blades dialed in to a razor that can milk a better performance from them. I'm thinking about you, Eddie Jag, specifically the DE89.

Just a suggestion to use a more aggressive razor.

Haha, I'm a bit slow on the draw today but I have around 600 Minora SS (rookie numbers ) and still love them more than ever.

Initially I bought 400-500 online from abroad. But then in a year or two, they appeared unexpectedly in a few local brick-and-mortar shops (grey market of course). The 10 packs. Since the price was dirt cheap (converted to USD - $0.38 for 10) I bought many. Even 3 days ago when buying shampoo, grabbed 3 ten-packs. So the number is around 1000 now.

That's not gonna happen. You could use 15W40 motor oil as a pre shave and you're not making it out of Shark Week without at least a minor case of razor burn. Those Sharks have teeth! Unscathed? That'll be the day.

I'm in for Minora week. It'll be a bit of a unique challenge for me though:

- I only have one tuck of Minoras in my stash
- It's currently used for "Tuck at at Time", which means that I can't (or rather shouldn't) switch to another blade until this tuck is finished.
- I'm in this month's GRUME, which means I can't buy any more Minora blades in anticipation for Minora week.

So, until Minora week starts I'm stuck with ONE open tuck of Minora's, of which I used today the second blade, and I can't order more. This means stretching out each Minora blade until Minora week officially starts on July 15.

I think I can make it if I use each remaining blade in the tuck 3 times; I only shave every second day plus Saturday for fun. By my calculation the tuck will be completed with 3 shaves to each blade by Saturday, July 20. My shave days are Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Thus completing Minora week, Tuck at a time, and staying in the July GRUME.

Talk about stepping up to the blade...or was it plate?.

MMMMMM, the rare Platinum Minoras. Nice. I have to dig around for my stainless ones. There might be one or two floating about.

Turns out the Platinums are not discontinued.
A memeber here from South Africa shows a 100 card with manufacturing date 2022 on the packs.
