Mike's Lily of the Valley vs. Mystic Waters Lily of the Valley...

I have been shaving with Mike's Lily of the Valley (strong powdery smell) and just purchased Mystic Waters Lily of the Valley soap. Of course I cannot wait for the Mystic Waters to arrive. Can anyone comment on the scents of both soaps? Thank you! I will post some thoughts on the two at a later time.

i could help you if the scents were Bay Rum. Michelle makes the best Bay Rum that you will ever smell!
Good luck to you.

LotV scents are quite similar-wouldn't be surprised if they used the same fragrance oil source. However MW was bit too strong for my tastes and I PIFd it; whereas Mike's is a little more laid back. Curious to hear others comparisons of the two.

i cant comment on mystic waters as i have not tried that scent yet. i found mikes to be weak. i will definitely try mystic waters lotv

There are dozens of suppliers of essential and fragrance oils, so it would be a coincidence if we used the same one for the same scent. Not impossible, but unlikely.

Less so if you trace it back to the suppliers suppliers though. Quite possible the product is the same even if you guys purchase it from different sources.

I love Michelle's Lily of the Valley. It's strong, but not too strong, and it's quite true to the scent of the flower. My favourite from MW is lilac, though.

I cannot comment on Mike's, as I haven't tried it....

Mike's LoTV is very subtle. So subtle that I probably won't get it again, and I am not an in your face scent guy. The lather is still on a different level.

Just ordered a sample from Mike along with some others. Can't wait to try it. Which reminds me, I need to get some MW samples too.

Initial scent impressions: Mike's Lily of the Valley is lightly scented and has a pronounced powdery scent that trumps any floral scent. Mystic Waters Lily of the Valley is highly scented and has more of a sweet floral smell. The sniffing-it-directly-from-the-jar test winner is....Mystic Waters. Of course, YMMV. But, if you are looking for stronger floral notes, Mystic Waters is a good choice. If you like a more muted floral scent, then Mike's is the way to go.

Both soaps are soft, like Cella. Mystic Waters feels greasier or slicker to the finger, while Mike's feels a bit firmer and less greasy to the touch. This, of course, says nothing about lather or shave quality. I will post those comments at a later time...but I think we have TWO amazing soaps here!

I got a sample of Mike's Lily of the Valley thrown in free with my recent order. I tend to prefer, spicy, citrusy, earthy or medicinal/menthol scents and am not generally drawn to many floral scents. I'll have to try it I suppose, but I fear it will not be too my liking.

I've got samples of both and I enjoy them both for different reasons. Can't really say I prefer one over the other based on scent. I'm more a citrus guy myself so something like LotV isn't in my rotation all that much.

FWIW, I found Mike's LOTV to mild a scent in comparison to his Rose/Cedarwood which smells just like roses to me.

I like that, so no need for the LOTV for me. YMMV.
