Micromatic Monday

Lounging On The Isle Of Tugsley.
‘‘Twas the Micromatic Monday before Mother’s Day and over the sink
The lather was slick as a Zambonied rink
MMOC on a facecloth grasped by one not brave
Who’d just settled in for a late evening shave
The GEM blade was nestled in its MMOC bed
While visions of whiskercide danced in its head
Mama off to dreamland during my shave and shower
That have somehow stopped taking almost a whole hour
The cap touched my face and what did I see?
It was under the jawline getting shaved ATG!
Away through the whiskers MMOC flew like a flash
Angle change at the chin-bone for no weepers or slash
Goodbye mustache and fuzz on cheeks
Bid adieu oh so brusque
To the whiskers near my chin
As tough as walrus tusk
To my sideburns; said in English; it translates poor in Spanish…
¡Adios amigos mios, Your Muttonchops Must Vanish!”
Washed off face and kit thinking I was so bright
Then alum block said: “Mister, your touch ain’t so light.”
I didn’t exclaim from the aftershave sting.
And now it’s Mother’s Day for the women who mean everything.

@Ron R - do you only apply the aloe vera before pass one or does it get put under the lather on the other passes?
I always brush wash my whole (I get dry eyes from allergies??? certain times of the Yr)face with a dedicated Yaqi Cashmere 24mm knot, I then rinse off the CeraVe soap and then apply the clear aloe Vera gel on the cleaned damp beard area only once and let it soak. Then I usually go about mixing my lather up and finding my cell phone to take a picture, damp wet the face a little and just apply lather right over the Aloe Vera gel on the face. I'm looking for fully hydrated whiskers for easy shave if that makes any sense.
As for Dry acidic eyes I have not really gotten any serious burning or dryness for over 2 years(a lot better than eye drops) and Gillette recommends a cleaned face before applying shaving lather anyways so I get "2 birds with on stone" sort of speaking.
Z-Pre shave products (2).jpg

This is part of my daily routine, if you know some folks who suffer from burning dry eyes and nothing works for them they will really enjoy this combination of brush and CeraVe minus the Aloe Vera gel on the eye area. A bit long winded but it is important for my shaving routine and helping my eyes or others possibly.
Have some great shaves!

Thank you for your description and explanation of your prep process, @Ron R . I had been wondering about the aloe vera since you recently mentioned it working better for you than merely holding a damp towel to your face. Did not know if every pass got an aloe hydro boost.

I thought myself it would be hard to beat the hot towel procedure but in my opinion it feels better because you are using warm water with the brush and lathering with CeraVe cleanser and cleaning the oils and defoliating the skin and at same time feels good for the rest of the day IMO hard to beat that for longevity. Doctors claim it is not normal for a hot towel to be applied to the skin, humans have been using cold water most of our existence if you really think about it.

Razor: GEM 1912, chrome (nickel?) plated with the hexagonal(?) handle; circa 1928?
Blade: GEM by Personna SS PTFE (2)
Brush: Simpson Berkeley 46 Best Badger
Soap: Tabac

Perfect shave this afternoon on two days of growth. Easy BBS after WTG/XTG/ATG passes, and the cushion of the Tabac meant that I couldn't even feel the blade and had to look for stubble in the sink for proof that the whiskers were going away. No nicks, burning, or irritation.

If it’s reducing dry/itchy eye symptoms, it sounds amazing to me.

Too hot promotes skin damage. You can tell because it feels so nice.

I was using warm or cold water soaks for a while, but when I opened a new stick of ARKO!, my whiskers softened better than when I was soaking for 2-4 minutes and lathering up with soap that has a cooler ingredients list. Some other soaps/creams must do the same job even better (it was burny on my mug, but Ach Brito Mogno seemed to work better. It somehow smelled better. Other ARKO! users have noticed better post-shave feel), but the aloe vera and your results with it have been intriguing me. I’ve even been trying rinsing with a cold facecloth between passes, but re-apply warm lather, so that’s probably a moot action.
