Mendel's Current Brushes

Here's my current inventory of shaving brushes.

From left to right: Thater 4292/3 Silvertip, Parker Silvertip, Shavemac Custom Silvertip, Semogue 1305 Boar, Kent BK4 Silvertip, Parker Synthetic, 2011 B & B Rudy Vey, H.I.S. Synthetic:

My Semogue 1305 is clearly one of my favorites. As far as the Silvertips, I need more time with my new guys (Thater, Shavemac, and Kent) before I can declare a Silvertip favorite. What I will say, is the Kent and Shavemac are super soft brushes.

Truefitt and Hill has several psychedelic brushes on their website. Believe these are re-branded Rooneys, to which
Lee of M&F has been connected.

Mendel,

That Shavemac is one of the most beautiful brushes I have seen to date! I hate you all for the things you do to my wallet! Nice collection!

Nice collection. Which sees the most use?

The Parker Silvertip is the oldest and has seen a lot of use, as well as, the Semogue 1305. The Kent, Thater, Shavemac, and H.I.S synthetic are all very new and have seen few lathers.

Newb Question!

In regards to the Semogue Boar brush: What application technique do you use with it? I am using one now (of course) and the difference is dramatic. I currently bowl lather with Proraso cream.

Once it breaks in (after 10-20 shaves), it is a versatile brush. Good with both soaps and creams. BTW, I scuttle lather with creams 80% of the time.

Trey, I knew you would like the Semogue I sent you. It will only get better after more lathers. You just want it to dry fully after each shave. With boars, the ends split over time and that's when it becomes truly broken in. Soft tips like a Silvertip with excellent backbone.
