Men should shave on an empty stomach!

I read this on a German site. Men should make sure they shave first thing in the morning before having their breakfast, as they are less likely to cut themselves. If you had your breakfast already, the heart rate and blood flow increases and more blood is flowing around the arteries and there is more blood around the face and neck and so you are more likely to cut yourself!

Increased bloodflow won't make you cut yourself.

However, eating food drops your bloodsugar and does other things which encourage your body to fall asleep and digest it. Theoretically speaking, that sleepiness might make you more careless with a razor.

In practice I doubt it would make any difference to most guys, since shaving is done so regularly that it's well into the realm of muscle memory. (Which means that the conscious part of your brain is barely involved in the process of moving your hands around)

This is a bunch of bs. If anything, eating leads to more blood flow to the gut, not to other parts of the body. Obviously, any changes in blood flow are minor and would not be associated with cutting oneself.

Eating actually causes your body to shunt blood flow more to the organs of digestion. It doesn't increase 'blood in your arteries'; your blood volume doesn't change. However, having lived in Bremerhaven, Germany for a year, I can tell you their motto isn't 'Got Milk?', it's 'Got Beer'. They drink it with everything (and yes, it's that good!). Maybe a little too much suds with the bran buds could cause that blade to blur.

Nah. If you shave on a full stomach the skin is stretched tighter, making for a closer shave. Gotta be careful around the belly button though - especially if you have an "outie."

I'm not sure how this could really make any difference.

Unless you're actually going to cut something major I don't see any additional danger in having eaten before shaving.

If true, I'm OK, rarely have enough time in the mornings before leaving the house to grab anything except for occasionally coffee. Shaving takes at least two third of the time I have between waking and catching the bus.
