Marco's Method

Well I used Marco's method for the first time tonight with my Semogue 830 and I must say it really works well. I used Tabac and it made an absolutely perfect lather in no time. I tried with MWF shortly after and it made a nice lather, but I think I should have worked it longer. Needless to say, I will definitely be using this method from now on, removes all the guesswork for water ratio.

Try it with Cella! Then you will know what Marco is talking about. It is the only way to lather up Cella. I have yet to try it with Proraso though.

Does Marco's method only used with boars or can it be implemented with badgers as well.

For me Marco Method really makes boar brushes shine. For badger brushes I almost always squeeze a fair bit of water (while still some water in the brush). Some badger brushes just retain way too much water.

Could someone connect us to the original post about Marco's Method? I saw it once, but can't locate it know. Thanks in advance.

Ask me about shaving naked!
Try lathering MWF with distilled water if you have anything but soft water. Marco's method works well.

Cheers, Steve

So, I've been using RazoRock in my rotation for the past month or so, and while my lather lately has been pretty good, after reading this, I decided to give Marco's method a try. I went to the den and whipped up a test lather on my hand, using my VDH boar brush.

Holy crap.

Holy CRAP!

That was a LOT of lather! Very slick, very thick and cushiony. I only regret that I already shaved today, and this this amazing lather was wasted.

I'm almost scared at what will happen when I try this with Tabac!

Shaving 2x rarely kills anybody....just sayin!

I've had a decent method for a long time which produces quality lathers, but never really paid attention to my method...going to try this tomorrow to see if there is a difference...

Interested to hear if this works...my gut tells me no. A brush loaded with water will likely result in a airy mess with MWF....

Well aren't you just a little fricken' ray of sunshine this morning, Chris!

It is the last day of the IOTW, so I figured I would give it a shot. Plus I will have more time to try and get it right. Nothing ventured, nothing gained! I will let you know how I get on.

Hey it could work...just know that MWF tends to respond better to less water and more soap up front....Marcos method is lots of water and soap up front
