Making a McIvor Brush & Mug Set

I thought this might be of interest to at least some of you, and hope it's okay to post this info.

I have an article in the Winter 2010 edition of Woodturning Design magazine explaining the making of a shaving brush and mug set. I've also posted two video blogs of the process at thewoodspinner.net. Episode 2 covers the mug, Episode 3, the brush.

So if you want to see how sausage is made...

Looks like good stuff. Hope you stick around and share some more.

I have been thinking about getting a lathe in the garage. Things like this and what I have seen by people on the boards just make it that much more tempting.

Be careful, its an addictive pastime! But very rewarding. And thanks for your comments.

Indeed it is. I've recently gotten really interested in woodworking and have read your excellent article a few times. I've been turning up such a storm that SWMBO is starting to wonder if I'll start sleeping in the garage.

All in all, I'd highly recommend it to anyone - it's very relaxing, almost hypnotic in a way. There's also something very rewarding about starting with an unassuming chunk of wood and discovering that there was a crazy beautiful grain pattern waiting within.
