Looking for an answer

I've never really found an answer for this. Of course I've never asked for one from B&B, so I hope someone can set me straight. I lather in a scuttle, either soap or cream, and sometimes mixing the two together for a really slick lather. When my shave is finished what should I do with the lather left? I have a nice thick amount of lather and it seems a shame to wash it down the drain. Since it is only lather left in the scuttle, no worries about drying out the soap puck, can it be used again next shave? Seems like a waste of really good lather. I've been washing it clean and starting freah next shave. Am I doing things wrong? Anyone out there have a good solid answer? Could be a dumb question, but I'd really like to know.:confused:

Wash it away. Like all pleasures, it is fleeting....it's why we do this. The lather is sublime, and cannot be saved any more than experience itself.

It's bittersweet to wash away an awesome batch, I know....I know....

(you cannot save it because the moisture will evaporate and leave dry, phantom foam.) Think of a chrysalis....

When I face lathered from a puck of Williams in a mug, I just let it dry and added water the next day. You could do the same with the lather in the scuttle and it will work fine. The real issue is esthetics, i.e., how it looks and if you have guests using your bathroom. My wife and I both work at home her clients occasionally use the bathroom. I want my scuttle to look nice.

Nicely put. Besides, excess lather is a gateway to SAD and SCAD -- nothing wrong there!

I either face lather or mug lather (more face lathering lately). The left over lather at the end of my shave is used to wash my face before the cold water rinse (I use soaps). After a noxema scrub and multiple applications of soap for 2-4 passes, my face probably doesn't need washing but I hate to see that thick fragrant soap lather go to waste.

The TOBS St. James I've been using recently smells so good I squeeze all of the extra out of the brush and leave it in my lather bowl on my bathroom counter.

It makes the room smell great.

I usually don't clean up the bowl (from a dollar store) until I'm ready to shave the next day. But I do clean the brush right away.

By the looks of the cream after 24 hours, I don't think I'd want to try to use it for a shave.

A similar thread came up a few weeks ago. One member suggested washing your hands with the lather after shaving. I started doing it, and I certainly love smelling TOBS Almond a little longer into my day.
