What's new

Long time shaver short time collector.

Greetings Greetings, Fellow Shavers!

I have been wet shaving for about 7 years now but only using a Van Der Hagen Razor, blades, soap, brush and bowl. Its what I started with and stuck with never looking into other options, then about 9 months ago I found some Razor Emporium videos on YouTube. And for the past 7 1/2 months I have been collecting and experimenting with razors, blades and soaps and loving it.

I'm still learning about vintage razors and definitely have questions about some of the razors I have to make sure they are what I think they are.
Not even 8 months in and I'm up to 39 DE razors. 3 single edge razors 6 injector razors and 4 cartridge razors, one straight razor and 25 shaveetts, 21vintage twin blade disposable Gillettes & enough double edge blades to last me 5 shaves a week for 40 years. I think I got addicted and went a bit overboard.

I love hunting razors in the wild and getting deals on them its a major rush.

Since when 40 razors is overboard? Especially on this board. I haven't been informed.
Blades worth 40 years of shaving, you say. No problem whatsoever. Is there someone around you telling you it is overboard?

Wow! Very nice displays! Welcome to B&B. You have fallen deep into the rabbit hole. That is a collection to be proud of. So of all, what do you prefer to use?
So far my favorite is my 1968 Schick Krona with vintage Schick blades. Second is probably my Rex Envoy I use it every time I try new blades.

My last 2 shaves I have used a adjustable Schick injector with vintage blades i picked up the other day and it is definitely a great shave.

No nobody has said anything to me yet about it.

Collecting, is a Disease that some enjoy, some also suffer from, I actually Enjoy the Suffering. No known cure once infected, but with help from a zero bank balance it can be managed, no fatalities have been reported, that I'm aware of?
It's about the 'hunt' and eventual capture, the entoombment[sp] and subsequent observation of them all co-habitating in an unnatural habitat harmoniously.

You are doing well at only 8 months in, but if after 8 years and no change in your pocket, I would seek help.:letterk1:

Welcome aboard! Hunting in the wild beats scrolling online any day. The thrill of a great find amplified by a good price has to be experienced. You have some excellent acquisitions.

You have done a job tracking down so many vintage blades, especially the card displays. I'm pleased to see the Rapira Platinum Lux as a modern blade for you. It is one of my favorites. I do not see many cards of old blades around here.

When you see a Schick E or G injector with good blade stops at a fair price, grab it. I think you'll like the shave. The Gs are pretty common and inexpensive in my neck of the woods.

I didn't see many (any?) Gem blade razors in your pile. Razors from the various American Safety Razor brands and models are also very affordable. Gem blades can be tweaked to fit some AutoStrops, in case you are hankering to shave with yours.

I purchased a lot of razors from an antique store 2 days ago and there was one Gem razor and one Valet Auto Strop and 6 Schick injector not sure what type but I really like the adjustable one. It also has 2 fat boys, 2 slim adjustables, 3 techs, I think a 30s Gillette, a Knack a Krona and a few others.

I paid $3.65 each. This is the best score I have found yet and they still have another box they couldn't get to when I was there but I will be going back soon.
