Lift'N'Cut Vintage trac II ad

So heres a vintage ad of the gillette trac II,It shows that cartridges (in that time) did indeed lift/pull and cut.

Now that brings a question
do 5blades = 5 passes in one pass or is there some lift n cutting still being done?

I have no idea how or if a 5 blade cart progressively lifts and cuts hairs... but seeing Richard Mulligan in that ad was funny

Didn't the ads for the Quattro show that there was still hair to be cut on the fourth blade to show that 4 blades is better than 3?

It shows that Gillette claimed the Trac II lifted and cut. The ad supplies no actual proof that's what occurred. I've always been skeptical of the claim, and have yet to see any conclusive proof that's how a multi-blade design works.

Another vintage Trac II ad (see below) doesn't make the lift-and-cut claim. It just says it uses two blades "to get whiskers one blade could miss." The implication here is a single pass with a two-blade head is roughly equivalent to two passes with a single blade. I don't suppose this nullifies the lift-and-cut claim of the other ad, but it does suggest the ad men were using different marketing angles for the design.

Yeah,but most ad's show the lift/strech and cut thing.
