The Sigma has a rather loud auto-focus, just before that shot I had moved the focusing point slightly and it re-focused on the background.

OK. I am probably the least talented photographer here by a long shot. I saw this at the NC Outer Banks last weekend. We were at Cape Lookout near Morehead City taking the ferry back to the mainland. I just liked the lines of this with the two poles and the pelican atop one. Just an iphone snap.
In Adelaide we have a large population of Barbary Doves / Ring Doves (Streptopelia roseogrisea) which although wild, are very tame and can even be handled to a certain extent.
I routinely have several that will visit, either coming under the veranda, or sitting on the line.
