What's new

lashaving company

Did a search but la turns up too short, la shaving turns up shaving, and lashaving turns up nothing. To the point, does anyone have any experience with lashavingcompany soaps? They have out a new fougere scent that I really would like to hear about. Some very impressive comments on other boards, though none yet for the fougere since it is so new. Thanks!

I've got some of the unscented. It's incredibly easy to lather and produces a nice, slick lather. Pretty impressive. It's the same ingredients as MdC, and while it's not quite as slick and doesn't produce quite as much lather as that magical soap, it's a whole lot cheaper and provides a really good shave. For a newcomer to the world of artisan shaving soaps, Los Angeles Shaving Soap is a winner.

I can't speak for the soap first hand and I do plan on purchasing a sampler pack, but the guy who makes the soap is in my opinion a first rate person. He has a very long thread with his experience and recipe for these soaps. He was very open with how he came up with the formula and some of the refinements he made to get it to what I understand a darn good soap. He even went further and answered pretty much any questions people had on how to do it themselves. I plan on trying to make some of my own based on his formula with scents he doesn't have, plus I like to do it myself at least once. I find doing stuff myself is not only interesting and educational but gives me a great frame of mind to understand pricing. More often than not I do something once and, while I am happy for my increased knowledge, I find that the price from the pro's not only not reasonable but a great deal. I for one want to support someone of his caliber and hope he has great success.

It's fantastic soap. Lathers like MdC but for me smells better (and I like MdC scent a lot). I've used both woody lavender and vanilla/eucaltus/mint. Both are great. My bet is the fougere is great as well and I'm looking really hard for a reason to buy some but as I have at least a year worth of great soap, I just haven't been able to. John (JBLA) is a great person. Check out the post that led him to sell the shaving soap:
