I just received my new genuine horn-handled Kimson 28mm silvertip brush. It cost me $111 including shipping and, in my humble opinion, is a match for, or superior to, any 3-band brush on the market (including Thater, Shavemac, Kent, etc)! The beautiful and well-weighted handle was impressive right out of the plush gift box. The next thing I noticed was the incredible softness of the tips and the third thing I noticed was the high density. Nobody I was aware of combined ultra-soft tips and a high density knot like Thater - until now. The knot is dense enough to work well with soaps/croaps, yet the tips are light as air. I tested it on QCS's Lavender cream (croap) and it quickly produced copious lather.
The bloom is a bit odd-looking; it expanded like a fan, but the knot is definitely a bulb. It is still drying at the moment, but I expect it to expand even further.
