Kent / Mitchell's Lanolin Shaving Soap

I received this recently and have been able to put brush(s) to soap, and can make this comment:

This is an outstanding soap. The scent is altogether masculine and subdued. It has no light or floral notes at all, but rather, the good smell of a quality soap infused with lanolin, clove, sandalwood and vanilla, and probably a lot more.

It lathers up beautifully, and feels excellent on the skin, leaving a very pleasant smell on the face and a soft finish to the hide.

A bit more expensive than some soaps, but I reckon this will last a long time and when its due for more, I'll happily order more.

Best,

Chris

--EDIT--I just saw a post only a few after my own on Kent MWF soap, so I guess mine is an inadvertant repeat of the first.......sorry.

You'll need 2 soaps more: Tabac and Williams, to post in this section :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Before that no one will take you seriously....:biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1:

Sorry, just joking a little...I agree, I like the MWF, but I don't feel a great smell, only a simple, clean soap parfum....:001_huh:

I am no stranger to various shaving soaps. For about 20 years, I have been using exclusively Penhalgon's shaving soaps, generally BB and English Fern in both soap and cream form, preferring the soap pucks as I go. I am new to this forum, and am greatly inspired to see the large community of gents who favour the use of brush and soap and straight razors or double edged safety razors. I've always been the odd man out in gym or barracks life, where everyone else seems to be using cream-in-a-can, eschewing brush and soap.

I have, from time to time while travelling, gone with Proraso shave cream ever since an encounter with a shaving bowl and my beloved Penhaligon's BB at a security checkpoint at Attaturk Airport in Turkey, when I was working on a contract in the former Eastern Bloc in the late 90's. (And I can say that I have lathered with BB in the war-torn former military barracks of a foreign demilitarised zone; no need to stop using brush and bowl because of the environment, unless absolutely necessary).

Since then, with increased airline security issues, I travel with Proraso since its so widely recognised in most parts of Europe. On domestic Canadian and US flights, I break down and buy the more recognisable creams-in-a-can, even though they're no comparison to a proper shaving soap, and they make me feel like a dessert at the IHOP as I foam my face up.

Since finding this forum recently, my shaving routine has been given a great shot in the arm, and I have ordered a more than a few new soaps, which I eagerly anticipate the arrival of. Reading through the reviews forum has been very useful, although my wife will doubtless eviscerate me upon the arrival of several packages over the new few weeks..........Yet I can't read review after review of creamy shave soaps, luxurious badger brushes, bay rums and lime elixirs without breaking down.

Great forum, I hope to be here for a while.

Very best to all,

Chris

Welcome Welcome Welcome!

I've only been here for < 1 year but my personal toiletries have more than quadrupled. I wish, however, I could say the same thing about my bank account.

While travelling in the CONUS, I would think you should be fine with a small tube of proraso (similar/same marketed here by C.O Bigelo via Bath and Body Works). To be honest, I usually travel with a shave stick (Ogalalla Bay Rum/Sandlewood... YUM). The shave stick looks no different than a deodorant. With Brush, shave stick, and travel DE.. I'm set There should be no need to resort to canned dessert topping. :001_cool:

MWF is good stuff. I received my puck only a week or so ago. I'm a few shaves in and can already tell it will be a favorite. Tabac is good but I'm sometimes thrown by the fragrance.

There are so many artisnal soaps out there today that are fantastic. I've already overflowed my shelf in teh bathroom and my "overflow box" is starting to complain. Sometimes its just too hard to resist.

No kidding! I have some nice choices inbound, mostly from the larger companies. I like the idea of the small, artesianal companies too. My bathroom cabinet runneth over....Tonics and elixirs and brushes, oh my!
