What's new

Just won these open combs off the bay, CAN ANYONE I.D. THEM?

Very nice score. :thumbup1:
You are in for some great & very close shaves

Have you tried the open combs before? :001_smile

I'll have a go since no one else has. The first is an old style head, that looks like a bar handle from a razor like the second, the second is a ball handle long tooth New. That one is a very nice open comb shaver, most would say one of, if not the best. This is the head that Cooncatbob has replated and uses on his custom razors. Nice scores on both of those. I am sure that one of the Gillette experts (AsylumGuido) will chime in and correct any incorrect info.

That is correct.

Switch handles and then each razor would be closer to what they were new.

The first one is the same basic razor as the other one we discussed; a long-comb NEW. If/After you switch handles you will have it in the same condition as the other, just a different box.
It may have come with the ball-end handle; it looks original and matching to the rest of the razor.

The second is an Old Type with a NEW handle. The Old handles tended to break, so it may have been replaced for that reason, or it got mix-matched in some guy's basement.

If you shave with the Old Type, be careful that the blade centers when you tighten the handle. They don't index as precisely as a NEW, Goodwill or Tech.

Price vs condition?
The Old Type is about right. Non-original handle, and there is a ton of them out there.
The NEW? A reasonable, even good price with case, especially if that handle is as nice as it looks. It looks mint, no cracks; pretty rare!

ETA: Before you hit "Buy it Now" or bid up a razor fairly high, be sure you check the B/S/T forum here. There are often some really good deals there.
