I bought an Oscillator just to have, because they're super neat. Even though it looked clean, the roller mechanism didn't seem to want to roll freely, so I went ahead and cleaned it really well. Though better, it still had a tendency to lock up. I put a drop of 3-in-1 oil on it, and presto--a stiff breeze would've spun that puppy.
So that got me curious... I'd read all the bad reviews on B&B about the Oscillator, but could that just be because the drum needed a little help from lubrication? Maybe this thing had some merit to it! I couldn't stand it anymore, so I broke out an NOS blade, took a shower, and gave it a shot tonight.
It was HORRIBLE! The drum did spin some on the ATG pass, but that's because it was leaving so much stubble to grab onto! No rolling action otherwise. Seriously considered grabbing another tool after the first pass to finish the job, but forged onward. Ended up with a couple of nicks and a terrible shave.
But you know what? It was a blast, and I couldn't help but chuckle while using it. What a funky little razor! The moral of the story is, I say everybody should have one, but just to look at, NOT to shave with!!!
