Good morning chaps. Yesterday I arrived at home from a brutal work week and found a nice surprise. A package was waiting for me that came all the way from South Yorkshire UK. From Wingham Wool Work to be exact. I saw the link to this company in the Shopping Forum a couple of weeks ago. They have a very good selection of Mitchel's products at great prices. Carriage was not too bad either considering that many places that ship from UK to U.S. seem to charge a LOT.
I purchased the Woolfat soap with ceramic dish, three of the large bath soaps, a bottle of their shampoo, and a small bottle of the hand and body lotion. It took about about a week or so and I was happy to get it in what I considered a speedy time. All arrived in great shape though whilst it was in transit I had bad notions of the ceramic shave soap dish arriving in pieces. I LOVE the ceramic dish. Very old school for this old curmudgeon. Just the way I like it.
I used the shampoo and bath bar last night. While the shampoo has a fragrance to it, I was most happy that it did not smell like the typical shampoo you get off the store shelves. It cleaned well and did not leave much of a lingering scent, which I liked. It left my hair feeling soft but not "conditioned" which was another bonus. Most commercial shampoos have too much gloop in them for my tastes. The bath soap has some scent too but it mostly smells of...soap. Fine by me in this instance. It made a very creamy lather and cleansed well. It rinsed fairly easily and only left my skin feeling the slightest bit dry and only then in a few places. I liked it a lot. I know some chaps go back and forth between soap bars and shower gels but it is no contest for me. Soap bars all the way.
I am quite happy with my purchase. The order with Wingham went off without a hitch and they have a great selection of Mitchel's products. Oh, about that shave soap. Well, I have used it before but it was the Kent version of the soap. It has not been my best performer by a long shot but I have kept a couple of things in mind. First, this was old leftover stock from Kent bought at their eBay store. It was dry and cracked and did not lather worth a hoot. Finally I grated it up and put it in an Anchor Hocking bowl and packed it tight. This helped but it is not that great. Second, I am convinced that Kent/Mitchel likes soft water and my water is not soft. So I will be interested to see how it goes with a new cake. Mostly I just wanted that cool bowl.
Regards, Todd
