What's new

just curious

what is the shelf life on most shaving creams and soaps also on after shave balms after they been opened
I know a lot of us have tons of different products and some get used more then others
I my self fall in to that category so I just want to know how long we could keep all our shaving goods products

Thanks

I am sure that others on the forum will have more precise answers, but I think it will all come down to how you store them. I am working on a two year old tub of Castle Forbes which went virtually untouched for nearly a year, the lid was dusty. I also like to alternate between two tubs of Nancy Boy and I just finished a puck of AoS unscented in under 6 months. It was only the AoS that showed signs of age which I suspect had something to do with the tallow as brown spots appeared on the surface. I didn't want to take a chance on them being mold so I sliced them off the top and the soap continued to work just fine. After that I made sure to let the soap dry completely before covering it. FWIW I don't keep any of my shaving kit in the bathroom so it isn't exposed to the higher levels of moisture.

Did you try a forum search? There are countless of threads on this.

The chances of any of creams or soaps going bad is slim to none. The shelf life sticker on them exists to meet EU regulations and to get you to throw them out and purchase more.

Soap will pretty much last forever. I have shaved with Vintage Williams that is far older than I am (I am 33), and it still performs awesome!! It may lose it's scent over time.

Shaving cream can dry out if the container is not fully airtight. No big deal: use it as if it were a soap, or stir some water in to rehydrate.

Matthew is right. I have a few shaving creams that are celebrating their second birthday and they work as well as the day I first tried them.

If your product outlives you pass it down. Depending on the smell.
My husband is not a wet shaver :blushing:. He does use shave sticks and asm though and he has several that are very old and perform perfect.
