jojoba oil - viola!

Wanted to share my experience with finally solving my 'micro irritation' problem.

I've been at this wetshaving thing for over a year; I know what works for me at every stage of the process - however after 3-4 days of consecutive shaving (I shave 6 days a week), I get micro-irritation. I know this term has been thrown around but basically how I define it is that I see no redness, no bumps, no ingrowns...but my neck under my jawline just itches like crazy. This happens no matter what I have tried, and my neck in those areas is very dry at the 5-day mark. Give it a day off, and I'm good for the next two shaves.

So, I thought I'd try some jojoba oil I had laying around as a pre-shave. Rub it into a wet face under the lather. Worked great. Then I added a few drops to my Nivea ASB, and also applied it to a wet, clean face before bed.

Results? Today was my 4th shave in a row, and I have not a hint of itchiness, and my face is not nearly as dry as before. Now, I can't be sure that the result is due to the jojoba as the pre-shave, or just the application of it as an ASB or before bed, but whatever it is, it worked wonders. I'm sure other oils will work, and BTW the pre-shave application created more glide, and did not gunk up the razor or brush, and did not impact the closeness of the shave.

Just thought I'd share for other folks who may be in the same situation.

I've been reading some about jojoba oil. I'm planning on getting the jojoba shampoo bar from Chagrin Valley.

What cream/soap are you using? I got significantly more dry skin with Art of Shaving cream than with Kell's ultra aloe.

And if anyone asks because of how much I talk about Kell's - I'm not affiliated with the company. The owner is a member on another forum I frequent, and that's how I heard about them. That forum is how I heard about B&B. Yes I should probably try more creams and soaps before raving about Kell's, but I've never used a face product that doesn't dry my skin to some extent. Kell's almost seems to add moisture. My face is more dry after my shower and before my shave than after my shower and shave (and before after shave lotion).
