Jim Beam 7 Year

I may be late to the party, but I just picked up a bottle of Jim Beam "Distillers Choice" 7 year bourbon at my local Sam's Club. I'm generally a Maker's Mark, Woodford Reserve, Knob Creek kind of guy, but I tell you what, this stuff is quite good. Smooth and vanilla-ey, but with a nice oak bite. For $9.98US for 750 ml, it's a bargain.

I use regular old Jim Beam as my mixing bourbon usually, like manhattans or mint juleps and the others listed above as my neat and/or rocks bourbons, but this bottle definitely fits well into the neat and/or rocks category.

Just thought I drop this in here for anybody looking for a very serviceable and inexpensive bourbon.

Is the "7 year" the green labeled stuff? I remember thinking that JB Green was not very smooth and had a pretty gnarly bite, but it has been several years since I drank it last.

Jim Beam Black on the other hand is quite nice and very smooth.

I agree. I bought a bottle at Sam's a few weeks ago. Very good stuff, and a best buy at under $10.

It is in a clear bottle with a clear label, and is a new product as far as I can tell. Not the green label stuff. I have to say it is as good as the Jim Beam Black to me, and half the price.

Like Clay said, this is different than the green and black label stuff. If I remember right, the green label is their rye whiskey. This is bourbon, and I haven't seen it in stores before. I can't remember having the black label, so I can't compare, but I say at less than $10 its worth a go.

Jim Beam black label is real nice. Way better than Wild Turkey and others.
