Jermyn Street versus Avocado

Can someone tell me what the Jermyn Street scent is similar to? I saw a youtube video of some British guy lathering the stuff and it looks incredibly thick. More so than the other TOBS shaving creams. I heard is smells like cologne. If so, is there a specific cologne? Maybe citrus similar to Eaton College?

Is it also true that the Avocado smells fruity? I heard that the notes are water lily and cucumber. Maybe it is vegetable like?

Jermyn Street does smell like cologne but I can't think of what to compare it to. It is in the same vein of Eaton College but not citrus, more of a masculine floral; very trendy. I might be getting a subtle hint of Lavender from it. Avocado smells nothing like how it's named but more like cucumber lotion from Bath and Body Works. It is more of a feminine smell that my girl swears smells like old lady, but I don't get that perception from it. Hope this helps.

I can hardly tell difference between my Jermyn and St. James samples. Smells like generic men's cologne. Sorta like Burberry Brit cologne?

This made me chuckle as avocado is a fruit. (My second favorite fruit, behind tomato.). I find the cream very mildly scented, but more moisturizing and effective than the rest of the TOBS bunch.

I've tried the entire TOBS line and find Eton College to be the best. A must-have if the concept of "manly citrus" is remotely appealing to you. IMHO, second only to Arlington in the scent department.

Rose, Grapefruit and Avocado are the rest of the best. You'll already know if you'll love them based on the names, apart from the latter. An avocado is pretty much scentless so they made it smell like cucumber + something else light and un-describable.

+1 on the Avocado smelling like cucumber! My wife had a Cucumber Melon face wash that was a dead ringer scent wise to TOBS Avocado. Really there is no comparison IMHO scent wise between Jermyn St and Avocado but.... If I had to place it Avocado, Mr. Taylor's, and Shaving shop seem to run the same scent profile, clean, fresh and crisp! But like I said that's just my opinion.

I had a sample of Jermyn St. Had a shock when I took a whiff of this frag - same scent

I think the Avocado smells somewhere between cucumber and green grass. I have no idea how to describe the Jermyn St though, it's a very complex masculine scent. Clean and slightly floral. Other than the scent, it lathers like a beast too. My favourite cream at the moment.

I have to agree that Jermyn St is a hard to describe scent but whatever it is, it is one of my favorites. The Avocado is definitely more towards cucumber.

This is a pretty accurate description. I was torn at first, because I HATED the scent but loved the performance. I've slowly gotten more and more used to the scent, and it's usually what I grab when I wait a little too long to shave and have some extra growth.

I cannot describe what Jermyn smells like unfortunately, but it is a favorite one. What I can tell you is that smells very nice and leaves that excellent smell on the brush when it dries. I very much prefer it to the Avocado, which smells between cucumber and grass as jesseix above stated. I have used the Jermyn, I have only smelled the Avocado :)

The TOBS web site describes the Jermyn Street Collection as:

A modern fresh fougere fragrance with bergamot, lemon, lime and lavender supported by a heart of geranium, neroli and amber resting on a substantive base of musk, patchouli and vanilla. An allergen free fragrance which contains Patchouli oil.

Avocado smells like cucumbers and fairly grandma-ish flowers (Baby's Breath?)

Jermyn Street smells like "man-citrus"

I bought both at the same time. Avocado leaves my skin slightly nicer, Jermyn Street lathers up better and feels better on the face. If I had to pick a winner, it would be Jermyn Street for the really impressive lather and, IMO, better scent.

Avocado is like a 50/50 mix between freshly cut grass/cucmber melon. It's quite a heavy scent though, not light.

Jermyn street is quite a complex scent. The main thing I get is vanilla followed by musk & maybe a touch of lavender. It's a very well-balanced modern, masculine scent.

Not sure were you live, but the first time I smelled avocado it reminded me of lake erie on a hot day(that rotten fish smell).

TOBS avocado reminds me of female hair products, very chemically based, Jermyn Street as far as scent goes.... forget about it!

I have jermyn st cream and cologne and have gotten nothing but compliments on it. The gf loves it and the cologne, because it is alcohol free, lasts. Highly recommend. For me the jermyn at cologne performs orders of magnitude better than the avocado, but, as always, ymmv.
