Jameson St. Patrick's Day Whiskey

I do prefer Redbreast to Jameson. But Jameson seems to be the whiskey to drink on St. Patty's Day. At least as far as specials at the bars.

There's nothing quite as Irish as Jameson Whiskey, and there's no better way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day than with their fifth annual limited edition bottle. Award-winning illustrator Steve Simpson designed this year's label, paying homage to Ireland's capital city, Dublin. You might already have plans for a Jameson & Ginger or an after dinner dram of Ireland's favorite whiskey, so you might as well grab this special bottle for an especially festive holiday.($25)

I just got a 1.75L bottle for $36 from Costco. That matches the Niagara Falls duty free price from last year!

It's funny that they mention Jameson and Ginger. I have been mixing Jameson with Domaine de Canton ginger liqueur lately for a nice little cocktail.

I've been using Jameson because the only other whisky I have in the house right now is Ardbeg 10 and Redbreast. Time to go shopping!

I've tried Redbreast repeatedly, and frankly, it has a tang, that I won't tell you what it reminds me of... Needless to say, there's a lingering after-note that I find unpleasant.

If you're not a huge Jameson fan, and want a St. Patty's whiskey, there's also Paddy's, from Cork, and John Powers from Dublin, both sufficiently Catholic, and both distinct from Jameson, and equally tasty.
