I've begun my journey into SR shaving and need help finding a reasonably priced honing kit

Hi Great Southern Land (Australia/NZ),
The title pretty much sums it all up. I'm a student who's become infatuated with the world of wet shaving and would like to make the leap from DE shaving to SR. The only obstacle stopping me from shaving atm is the fact that I only own a #3000 grit stone which from my understanding wont make my SR shave ready. I'd love to hear from the community about possible alternatives to whetstones, as they can be quite expensive and I'm not in a position to pay hundreds of dollars unless I'm sure that SR shaving's for me. I live in Melbourne, Australia, so if anyone has any tips or locations for me to visit, I'd love to hear them.

this is the setup I feel is the absolute easiest to learn.

Try Carbatec in Springvale. I bought some hones there when I was starting out.

You might also want to looking into ordering some lapping film, as it will be a lot cheaper than hones, and not cost much to post from overseas.
