What's new

It's the small things gentlemen.

Things kind of suck lately. Stress, etc. These past few months it seems as if my luck in life has had the flight potential of a cement truck. So being wound up, stressed out, and in an overall crappy mood I wasn't expecting my shave to go too well. I wasn't expecting a blood bath, just DFS with some irritation seems to be my norm this last month. There were some exceptions.

So, after my third shave with a Feather fiasco earlier this week I gave my face an extra day off. I normally shave every other day. I noticed the day after when I was in the shower washing my face that rubbing the stubble ATG was, to sum it up, not good. I didn't have any razor burn, visible irritation, or ingrowns...but it let me know that if I took a razor to my face anytime soon I'd probably really regret it.

I've had a shiny new MFW sitting in the drawer that I've somehow kept myself from using. I was waiting until it got cooler/more towards winter. I decided to break down and use it just a tad early. So I lathered up with it and grabbed my DE86 loaded up with a Blue Bird on its second shave. This is the second blade I've tried and the first left me with the impression that the jury may still be out. Not sure what my thoughts were on the first shave of the second blade. Anyway, I proceeded to shave.

Somewhere during my second pass I just zoned out. Everything just kind of went poof right out of my head. I just had my shave on my mind. I guess everything was zen.

So, I finished up, grabbed my alum and had to grin. No tingle anywhere. BBS shave! :001_tt2: A splash of Clubman and I emerged completely refreshed and in a much better mood. Ah, the little things in life. :biggrin1:

I'm kind of liking MWF. Great scent and protection. I'm thinking I like Blue Bird as well. Overall I like it more than some other blades that I've tried. If this pack and the one other that I have perform well I'll likely snag 100 at some point. I plan on sticking with MWF all winter. We'll see if it gains a must have status in my den.

What you say is true, having gone through hell the past few years that I have just getting back to realizing today, that you must do what you love and with love. I had a perfect day, and just now I had my first ever BBS shave with a proraso white tub that I picked up just because along with an Omega Boar. I normally don't like paying full price for things but wow.

People seem to compare the two, so I'll try MWF as well. I don't wish to hi-jack your thread, or because I'm new seem like an advertiser for Proraso White.

I didn't ever think I would 'like' shaving when I first heard about it. I had a full beard at 13.5 and started shaving a few months before 14; I had heard of wet-shaving between 14-15 but the way the guys on the internet (the NBC Show, Mantic, etc.) described I thought it was kind of frilly. I tried everything from disposables, fusion, quattro, andis outliners, clippers, etc. till one day I went on fendrihan and ordered up.

2-2.5 years later, I agree with you more than anything. I'd joke now that the one thing about prison I would hate, is not being able to wet-shave. Lol, I've been shaving more these past few days too and finally got rid of my irritation. I realized that I didn't like a scruffy look I was just shaving every 2-3 days to avoid the burn. Swapped feathers for a rapira, hopped on the boar, new soap and BBS.

I didn't even know I had skin like this..

It is the simple pleasures that makes things sweet. I waited a while to pull out the MWF this year too. It's just right for cooler weather.

I agree. On both counts. It seems as if we might actually get a winter here this year so I'm piqued as to how well MWF will do. Didn't have it last winter but last winter was more like a continuation of fall for the most part.

I'm a big fan of just sitting back and enjoying the shave.
You'll hear me say that over and over (and over and over) again.
There is no point to all this trouble if you aren't going to enjoy it.

Everyone needs to have a place they can ground themselves.
Glad to hear you found it.
