What's new

It's summer and I can't take the freeze PIF

My first PIF. So, last August, during a Montreal heat wave I purchased some QCS Vostok cream in an attempt to deal with the heat and humidity. The lather was amazing but I found the menthol to be a bit too intense for me. I put it in the back of my cupboard and kind of forgot about it until today. So instead of it going to waste I though I would offer it up. I'm also including some RR Don Marco Balm. I like it, but i have found that I do not use balms much and I have a tub of lime RR Wax that I use when needed. Plus it has a tiny bit of menthol too.

1. Enter to this thread with an "I'm in" and If you are up for it, where you favourite or ideal city to live in North America would be and why. I am just about finished my MA and do not really know where to go, so would like to hear opinions.

2. I would prefer that you have not tried Vostok before

3.Open for members in North America

4. I will keep it open for 1 week and pick a winner next Wednesday (July 17th)

Good luck!

I'm in! never tried it but love proraso menthol. My ideal city would be Astoria, Oregon but that is largely because my wife is trying to get a job there :wink2: The valley here in Oregon is nice and there are many cities & towns along its length

I'm in, thanks for the chance at the PIF. I think the ideal location to live is the midwest US. Access to cities, housing prices and liveable and jobs can be found. Traffic jams are rare. The climate isn't too bad if you are far enough south. Good luck to you!

I am in! I've never tried the Vostok but am a total menthol addict, particularly in these warmer months. To that point, I'd have to say my favorite city (town)
is Charleston, SC. It's a wonderful mix of old and new set against the truly magical backdrop of coastal South Carolina. A move there might be in my future, so I need to stock up on as much menthol as possible to stave off the sultry summer heat. Thanks!

I'm in. My favorite place in NA is Victoria, British Columbia. Without a doubt the cleanest, most friendly city I have had the pleasure of visiting.

I'm in. If I could choose, I would live in West Virginia (around the Clarksburg/Morgantown area) because I grew up in the great mountain state and moved south after grad school for a job. The proximity of Morgantown to Pittsburgh, Ohio, and the DC area are major draws as are the many outdoor sports. If you've never seen The New River Gorge Bridge:

or white water rafted down the Gauley river

,
you really should.
They always say WV's greatest export is its people because the economy doesn't promote growth the way it should. It's a shame, because it is a beautiful state with a lot to offer.

I'm in! I love Vancouver, but I think I'd go smaller and pick someplace like Monterey, CA. Nice cooler weather year-round, beautiful coasts. Unfortunately I'm in the frying pan of Arizona, so I could use some freeze!

I'm in!! I love the freeze, but have never tried Vostok (or anything by QCS... or RR for that matter). I'm glad to say I live in my ideal city. New Orleans, LA. Since Katrina, the city has become a hotspot for economic growth. There are jobs in virtually every industry to be had (except mining). The city is so culturally diverse that it's hard to not find something that suits your interests.

I'm in.

I live in Miami, Florida. Would recommend it to anyone. Next week going to Hawaii for the first time. Looking forward to it.

I'm in also!

Been curious for a while to try Vostok.

Indeed OP, we had a heat wave over the last two weeks in Quebec city also ;) I did not hesitate to use the proraso green over the last couple days :D

If I had to chose, I'd stay in Quebec City. This place is like a balanced mix between big city life and suburban/countryside lifestyle. I mean to say that people in this city are, like in countryside places, probably not as stressed as the bigger cities' inhabitants - such as MONTREAL (wink to OP!) - , but Quebec city remains still big enough to offer plenty of events, places to go out at night, restaurants, etc. Plus, its historic side makes it even more interesting.

I'm in; this is a most generous PIF you are offering. I have never tried any of the QCS offerings so this would be a first for me. If I could live anywhere without any restrictions I would pick San Diego, CA. Although a fairly large city it has a nice feel to it with great weather to boot.

I love living in the West. Salt Lake City, Utah if you like sun and snow. No where else can you mountain bike in Moab and ski in Park city on the same day if your up for the driving. 5 national parks, No humdity at all (it is a desert here). If your staying in Canada... I also traveled to Cardston, Alberta but as a farming town there is probably not much going on there, Calgary might be a better city there.

Go West young man!

I'm in.

Not in. I've had a sample of Vostok before, and my eyes were watering. It is powerful icy. A real wakeup in the morning.

I'm in! I've not tried Vostok before.

I like Raleigh, NC. The people there are friendly and to me it's pretty country.

I'm in. Since it seems like you want to work where you go I would say Denver, CO otherwise I would pick Durango, CO or Bishop, CA but neither of those cities have a lot of jobs.

I'm in! I've never tried Vostok.
There is soooo much of North America that I've never seen yet, but off the top of my head I'd say Burlington VT. It's absolutely beautiful there!

I'm in! I have been wanting to try this for a while. I love my Mama Bear's Lime Ice, but it doesn't have nearly enough menthol for those days when you really need a slap in the face (and in my case on the head).

I love living in Toronto, but it seems that everywhere I go I find wonderful people and interesting towns. In Canada, outside of TO or Montreal, I would consider Halifax or Ottawa. Both have a good vibe. Vancouver's nice too, and probably some of the best weather you'll find in Canada, but it doesn't make my top 3. In the States, my picks are San Francisco or Chicago. I would have put Boston on the list, but their roads were paved on a Friday night after the paycheques were cashed. I never owned a GPS until I spent a weekend in Boston. It was straight to Best Buy after my second lap of the city, trying to figure out where I was going.
