is using a Strop block ok?

** Found the answer i was looking for in the WIKI**
I have a 4 sided strop block that i use for sharpening wood working tools. 4 sides of leather 3 compounds. I am curious if anyone else has used these for straights? I love it for my wood tools and fine blade knives (filet and skinning). I just don't know if it is acceptable for straights.

It's what I'm using right now after finding an actual razor strop didn't give me as good an edge. I finish on red compound and then plain side.
