J. R. Torrey Paddle Hone aka Torrey’s Office Strop

Another addition to my rare and unusual cabinet queens. A J.R. Torrey Paddle Hone marketed as a Office Strop. The star of the show is the Old Rock Coticule. A pink freckled stone that has an appearance very similar to my Rose Rock Coticules and has a hard and fine personality. My research has not found anything similar. I did find an Executive Letter/Pen Knife Sharpener, but not in the same neighborhood as this. Love the “use sperm oil” in the user directions. Have many sperm oil Arkansas stones but this is my first sperm oil Coticule

I had a nice collection of these stones (usually on a larger paddle) a few years back. Beautiful Old Rock cotis for guys who like thin hones (~30mm wide if memory serves).

I had one that was unusually aggressive, but the rest (6 or 7 I'd guess) were all very fine, nice finishers.
