Is this ebay seller lying to me?

I bought an item from an ebay seller who insists he mailed my package last Monday. I checked the tracking and received this message:

Class: Priority Mail®
Service(s): Delivery Confirmation™
Status: Processed through Sort Facility

Your item was processed through and left our PHILADELPHIA, PA 19116 facility on September 27, 2010. The item is currently in transit to the destination. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later.

Detailed Results:

Processed through Sort Facility, September 27, 2010, 11:37 pm, PHILADELPHIA, PA 19116
Electronic Shipping Info Received, September 27, 2010

I ask you this: is there a way he could create a shipping label without actually mailing the package out? This is priority mail from PA to NY so it shouldn't take more than 2-3 days. I think he is lying to me...

I had a package, the Eagle Brush from the group buy, take over four days to get from the Kearny Bulk Mail Facility to my home in Northern NJ. Not even my local Post Office could tell me where it was.

Sometimes, the Post Office takes a while to deliver a package.

BTW, even if he were to have faked a mailing label, there is no way to fake going to the USPS site and getting there message saying the package has been processed.

USPS "tracking" is poor. I've had stuff arrive at my door before USPS showed it "tracked" through my local P.O.

I wouldn't blame the shipper just yet.

Just a few weeks ago I bought a cased old type from another member here. I live in Illinois, he in Michigan. It took a little over three weeks to get her. It said the entire time that the "package had been processed and left our Detroit Michigan sort facility". I had given up on ever seeing it then POOF three weeks later it was here. Contact your local P.O. they wont be able to do much, maybe give you a customer care number to call, but don't give up hope.

B&B membership has its percs
I had one razor recently take over two weeks "in transit" to go about 250 miles to another member. If the tracking says it was processed then "something" was mailed.

Whoops, I see Dan already reported the story :)

Can't fake that. You're wasting your time with usps tracking. It's far from real time. You'll either get it that day it departs from your local, the next day, or you'll get it a day early.

Same as me. In fact, I received notification for the PO that my shipment arrived in one case one week after it arrived.

I was tracking a parcel from the United States to Canada. The tracking information indicated it was at a border processing facility for several days. It suddenly appeared on my doorstep unexpectedly. Obviously, you cannot rely too much on the tracking mechanism. I doubt you are being misled in any fashion.

Whew, the general theme here is eerily familiar to something that happened to me. . . three weeks ago my mom SECURELY PACKAGED and sent a care package full of miscellaneous food products via USPS. Similar tracking information populated after ~ day 4. At ~ day 15 it arrived; somehow:

- the bag of tortilla chips was crushed to a pulp and opened.

- a can of coffee was opened (foil included) with grounds scattered throughout the bag

- a jar of pasta sauce magically 'popped' open but did not spill.

Either A: someone was hungry; B someone was pissed; or, C something about mummy's shipment was flagged for 'inspection.'

Perhaps something similar happened to you?

I had a package processed in Pa on the 25th of sep....still hasn't arrived.....had another mailed the 30th and got it on the 2nd of Oct....Just don't figure...I am getting a little concerned but will give it another week before I panic.....am sure it will show for you....

Delivery confirmation is not really tracking, the day it will be delivered you will see it says, out for delivery.
True USPS tracking costs alot more than del, conf.

I wouldn't think they could make that up. I could be wrong though, i have had more tracking number produce that little remark than actually be able to track it to my home. It puts peoples minds at ease though when you get a tracking number. I'm sure your package is on it's way, they don't call it snail mail for nothing.

To my knowledge that can't be faked,
I used to work in shipping and I can't count the number of times UPS or FedEx threw something on the wrong conveyor and ended up crossing the country 2 or 3 times. I imagine USPS has similar difficulties. Stand fast in the faith of deliverance and soon (hopefully) it shall be.

I used to work for UPS and they would throw a box on the conveyor to try and trip you up for training purposes. They tripped me up everytime "Did you catch that egg"? "What egg?" then it was "Walker, tear down the wall" used to get me po'd everytime lol

You can get updates on the status sent to your email or cell phone so you don't have to check it every day. However, I have done this and didn't get the updates until after my package had already arrived in a couple of cases. In my experience it takes several days for the next update after the "processed through sort facility" update.
