Is my Slant faulty?

Hi Gents,

I had my second shave yesterday with my brand new Slant. It was nowhere near as good as my first, and ate up my face a bit. I'm perfectly happy with my technique, so I don't think it was that.

I examined the head and blade, and noticed that, while aligned perfectly parallel with the safety bat, the blade looked "crinkled". By that, I mean when viewing the blade edge such that I can't see the top or bottom surface, it looks uneven from one side to the other, like a wavy line.

The other blade edge doesn't look like this, so I'm wondering if my Slant is faulty, and if it is likely that the vendor would replace it?

Thoughts appreciated!

John

Out of curiosity, does the blade have the spots of glue from the wrapper on it? If so, these should face down from the cap. I had a blade appear uneven due to this once.

My vintage slant did something similar.
there was a bit of flashing from the casting process that was pressing on the blade. I filed it down, and it's smooth as can be now.

Would it be possible to post photos of the wavy blade versus the straight blade?

Yes, I'll try and do that if I get time today.

I'm very annoyed! I know I'll love this razor!

I've tried different blades, same thing. Must be something not quite right with the shape of the head, I guess a manufacturing error.

Somebody once suggested pulling upward on the non blade edges of the razor blade while tightening the head. This works extremely well for me, at least when dealing with the blade not being even from a birds eye view. I'm not sure about this crinkling effect though. (Thanks to whoever suggested the pulling technique originally).
