I purchased some stainless steel 1/16" hex bolt fasteners with #0 stainless steel washers today and hex nuts. I should have asked you all for your opinion first but is it safe to use these for my restorations of straights? The sales guy told me they will not rust but I don't see many people using stainless steel here. It seems to be more nickel/silver and brass. Here's a photo of them. Thanks for your advice.

They are most definitely "safe" to use. How pleasing nuts and bolts look on a straight razor is a completely different ballgame. Suffice it to say I have not used a raised hex nut on any razor I have ever made, repaired, or restored. Everyone's artistic eye is different, though, so if you like them, go for it.
