I made a deal with SWMBO last week... let me buy one more pipe (a beautiful Peterson 606 Flame Grain from Blade Boy/Aaron) and I won't make any more pipe related purchases for the rest of the year except for pipe cleaners and lighter flints.

I'm very excited to get the 606, but now I'm kicking myself! So much 'baccy I want to try!

Go ahead and get the tobacco and a package of rolling papers. Obviously your intent is to RYO cigs, not pipe related at all! Of course if the RYO doesn't work too well, you would have no other recourse but to smoke the left over baccy in your pipes. Just sayin

That's my plan! Going through some of what I have is probably a good idea anyway. I came into about 10 samples of various blends and I'm finding that I like a number of them, so I'll have a list when the new year rolls around.

We were talking last night that we should take a trip over to the other side of the state to go to a Christmas store that she likes and I mentioned that I wanted to stop at Paul's Pipe Shop in Flint, but was then lamenting that I wouldn't be able to get anything. She scoffed and said that if it's a special stop like that it didn't count. All the more reason to make the trip!

Ha! That will happen regardless. I'm just hoping that it turns out like last time we went there... walked 20 feet inside the door, decided it was way too busy, walked out, and went to have dinner at one of the nearby German restaurants.

19 years of marriage have made me suspicious. If my wife ever says "hey, remember that thing you wanted? Why don't you go and buy it?" I get nervous.
