Imanishi wet stones

Hello all,

I decided to take a chance and pick up the Imanishi #4000 & #8000 water stones from Lee Valley: http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=67088&cat=51&ap=1, they can also be viewed at this website: http://www.fine-tools.com/bester.html. I used a granite tile and 220 wet/dry to flatten, rinsed the stones, added some water, and then proceeded to basically push water back and forth with the razor. I was wondering if the water should be turning grey as that is what I was expecting :confused1 ,it seems that I didn't really do anything. Sending the razor out is not an option.

Thank you for your help

If you are removing steel grey should be evident somewhere weather it is on the hone or in the water. I am not familiar with the iminashi stones, they might just be slow hones.
