What's new

I'm having my first Snus....

Not bad. Not bad at all.

I never would have given it a chance if not for the link in the Gentleman's Essentials thread. I almost hope I don't like it because not having to spit means I'd use the product much more frequently. There's nothing like a good chew (or a good cigar or pipe) after a meal, though.

I read the thread and was intrigued, and then the chick (that's right, the GIRL) at the 7-11 today mentioned that she loved them and they were on sale so I bought a pack. I got a 12 pouch trial size Camel Frost for $1.72 . It's a little minty for my taste, but I can see the appeal. I'd like to get something a little less minty next time.

There's a sample pack offer for $1 at http://www.getsnus.com/snus/sample_offer.asp . Think I might give it a try.

Calling Camel a real snus is quite a stretch. Follow the links above and order a few. I believe one of their samplers will get you started.
Enjoying Ettan los as I hunt and peck on this keyboard. Good luck.

I'm having my 4th Camel Frost Snus (I know, I know- this is NOT a good example of Snus) and I'm diggin' it. Just finished a great steak, baked potato, and baked vidalia onion and normally I'd love a nice pipe full of Red Virginia or a chew or a cigar, but I'm giving the Snus a try. I really like the fact that its self-contained. I don't have to go outside or use a spit cup. In addition to the sample pack from getsnus.com , I think I might go ahead and order a couple of tins.

But again, I want something more natural, less minty.

Looks good. I'll try that.

And I'll go with Ettan as my second tin.

Done deal. Thanks fellas.

Now...toss it away and go get some Copenhagen. :) Buy two rolls. Send one over here.

True story- the last time I had a dip of Copenhagen I was 17 years old and a senior in high school. Me and some friends got a can of Cope, all put in a big dip, and proceeded to play some basketball.

Long story short we'd all vomited within 15 minutes. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

With that being said, I have the utmost respect for our men/women in uniform. You tell me how, and I'd LOVE to send you a sleeve of Copenhagen (No matter HOW nasty I think it is, haha!).

I hate to throw water on this party but in December of 1991 I had a pre-cancerous lesion cut out of my mouth. I chewed Copenhagen for 11 years. Now every time I get a sore in my mouth I worry. Just something to think about.

A cousin of mine had major surgery last week because of his using snuff. It is full blown cancer and he is in for a long haul.

i'm sorry to hear about both of your friends and family, and my heart goes out to all those that have been negatively affected by cancer, i am trying to quit cigarettes right now, and am enjoying my snus,

just to show what kind of negative affect snus has,
Sweden has the mostsnus users in the world, and has theloswest tobacco related cancer rate in the world, no case has ever been proven to say that snu shas any negative health affects, some questionable sources even say that snus use combats certain nervous system disorders,

but these facts no one can contend with here are the TSNA(Tobacco specific nitrosamine info for major snus and dip brands,)

Brand Country TSNA count (PPM)
Ettan Sweden 1.2
Offroad Denmark 0.7
Phantom Denmark 0.7
Copenhagen USA 41.1
Skoal, Original fine cut US 14.9
Skoal Bandts Straight US 8.2
Kodiak Wintergreen US 11.0
Hawken Wintergreen US 4.1
Skoal USA 64.0
Timber Wolf USA 7.5
Silver Creek USA 127.9

this essentially makes snus as bad for you as eating a well done steak,

snus is a perishable good, kept refrigerated, and is pasteurized, tobacco the plant is just a plant, and nicotine is found in several vegetables, notably potatoes, tomatoes and eggplant, though in small doses,

snus is not smoke cured, or pickled in chemicals or fermented like american chew is,

it is a dried leaf , generally an organic one with the older brands, and is ground up with water and salt, it is kept refrigerated so it does not go bad, because as it goes bad more tsna's start to appear as it decomposes and ferments.

many doctors have said that snus is actually the safest for of nicotine and tobacco use, safer than the gum, nicorette inhalers and the patch, because of the prosses that the gum and everything goes through, snus is still concitered a food product in sweden and goes through the same food testing that any other for sale product on the market goes through,

and it still hasn't been linked to

Thanks for the insight Rob. In other news, I just received my sampler of the Discreet line. Hmm...sample might not be the right word...Tom sent me two packets of each flavor for a whopping total of 80 portions! I'll be sure to weigh in here on my impressions of each.
Don't forget to drop a email to the guys at Discreet Snus. I just landed 8 packs of 10 pouch samplers - 2 Strawberry, 2 Peach, 2 Wintergreen and 2 Mint. 80 white pouches for sending an email, yes plz.

Wow. Just walked out to my mailbox and find....EIGHTY FREE PORTIONS!

160 discreets :) very nice,

i like their snus quite alot, nice and cheap too

it's good for the American style snus,
seems they use sugar as a flavour intensifier instead of salt, lol

is this discrete snus made in the swedish fashion and only manufactured in the US? ie. does it contain the zero carcinogens?

congrat's on the score! keep us posted on your fav's!

Discreet is made in the swedish fasion, it has very low Tsna's and doens't have to be refrigerted because of the high airtight seal on the bags,

it's like what camels snus wanted or was supposed to be
