What's new

I'm an idiot.

I obviously paid no attention to the ebay title listing and ordered 100 Perma Sharp single edge blades. The double edge blades just cut in half. Any way I can still use these bad boys? What would you use them in? :001_unsur

if you can pretty safely clamp down the 1/2 of a blade, shouldn't you also be able to just double load them, having 2 1/2 blades to make a whole?

Not that I have any experience, just a suggestion after reading WiskyT's post.

But yes, they are intended for certain types of shavettes, which are available pretty cheaply. Maybe this could be your introduction to straights if you're not familiar with them already?

Regardless of your decision, best of luck!

Believe it or not, you can put them in a DE razor. I snapped a blade and put 1/2 in three different types of razors, and it gets locked down tight and shaves just like there was the other half in there. It worked in a Ri,mei 3 piece, a Mingshi TTO (terrible razor for me BTW), and a Gillette Click.

I did it to try and determine the longevity of a blade. I didn't want to confuse one egde for the other. By having one edge only, I was able to see how that one edge lasted and then it was a pretty small assumption that the whole blade would last twice as long.

Thanks. Good o know. I have been very careful to only order DE but it's good to know if I mess up I can still use them.

I wouldn't do it. Heck no! Sure, maybe it can be done.

It's a safety issue, if the blade wiggles around at all during your shave ... c'mon .. it's your face. Sell them on the BST if you're eligible, perhaps a refund even.

I could cut my windshield in half and re-install it in my car and drive around, but really?

Even if it works perfectly I wouldn't bother loading blade halves in a DE razor but rather take on the challenge of getting a shavette and maybe enjoy it. Or even pass them on to a shavette user. But that's just me, never having used a shavette so far.
