Nacets from Jordan

Nacets are my favorite blade. I'm thinking of ordering 200 of them from Jordan on the bay. However, blades can change. Ask me about the 300 Gillette yellows I have that I never use (my kids love them). I bought them...wait for it....after they changed and were not as sharp.

So I'm wondering if I can get some feedback from those of you who have very recently purchased Nacets from the Jordan sellers. Do you find them every bit as good as your older Nacets? Do you have a recommended seller?

If I can get 200 blades, I'll be pretty much set. I keep trying other blades, and they just don't do it for me like Nacets. My perma-sharp blades are a close second, but I find I still like something a little bit more about the Nacets.

I’ve ordered quite a few a couple months ago and the ones I’ve tested so far are good blades. Most of what I received were 2023 but there was some 2018-2019 ones.

I shaved with both side by side and the newer ones felt quite equal to me. I can’t say how well they’ll hold up after 4-5 shaves since I moved on to testing more blades but for the first shave they felt like the old Nacets.

With that said there does seem to be some variation with the Nacets from batch to batch as I have a bad batch from 02-28-20 which was at the beginning of the pandemic. But also in Helicopters blade sharpness testing between 2 different Nacets they had quite different results but both had good grinds and would likely both be good.

On the 7 Yellows I just recently tested those as well. One from before they dated them so pre 2017, and one from 2019 and the last I believe was 2021 or 2022. The newer 2019 and 2021 ones weren’t anything special and not in my top 20. But the one made before 2017 felt like a much better blade to my face.

I haven’t read many others mention this with the Yellows so I thought maybe my older ones were just a one off and they were just having a good day at the factory that day. But I wouldn’t be surprised if they changed them after 2017. Wish I had some more of those older ones.

If there are Nacets dated 2024 then that's a really good sign, right? It means that PPI are still producing them and the war hasn't affected production location unlike Astra's ...

Where your seller is located doesn't affect the blade quality. All that matters is where they were made and when.

I haven't been following all the recent P&G changes, but my understanding is this: production of Astra SP moved from Russia to India but most people don't notice much a difference in shave quality since the move, 7oC SharpEdge has kept production in Russia but changed manufacturing specs for the worse according to most people, and nothing has been said about Nacet except vague and unsubstantiated rumors all containing words like "might" or "could".

As a Nacet fanboy, I do consider that to be good news. The proof is in the pudding, though: do they shave the same? But I'm not aware of any war-time quality changes in P&G blades that weren't due to moving production to Asia, so I shouldn't worry too much about Nacet as long as they're keeping production in St Petersburg.

Nacets are produced to be sold in Arab countries which are not part of the Russian trade embargo. There's no reason for their manufacturing location to change unlike Astra or Gillette Platinum. Same with Perma Sharp blades and their Turkish destination market.

The ones I got from Jordan were April 10, 2018 blades of good quality.

The other one I measures, September 28, 2021, wasn't nearly as sharp or consistent. I don't remember where it came from. Probably a sample pack from somewhere.

Basically the one was a top tier blade and the other was not sharp or consistent.

Good luck.
